TWL 16 Quote of the Week:
1:Vatican Assassin> gonna have to forge my own medal from foundry of broken dreams

    Round 1

This was the Year of Redemption, as Pandora came out of the gate blistering behind Vatican Assassin (3.1 RPD, 2 teks) and Mattey (2.9 RPD) as the veteran duo plunged into the finals for a combined 7th time without a medal, determined to forge one not made from tears.

The voracious overspid trio of Ease (123-58), sarger (101-61) and Leitz (98-70) ransacked the enemy side, managing to get an early 6-1 lead against glavitik (114-76), hellkite (88-63), and M_M God (83-64).

Spezza (96-49, 3 teks!!) and Kate Upton (70-61) got the better of SquallFF8 (74-60) and skatarius (65-61), who had the unenvious task of dueling the strongest underspid combo in TWL, leading to quite a few flanking maneuvers and teks as the tentative Revenge spiders fell prey to the savage aggression of Spezzas relentless pushing.

cranium (2.8 RPD, 2 teks) and menelvagor (2.8 RPD, 1 tek) did all they could to force the issue, earning 3 Teks, but Cape (41-7, 1 tek) proved hard to kill, earning John McClane/Die Hard references in yellow, taking on Pressure (38-8, 1 tek), who came back well after Cape decimated him with a bold port-trap into the ear and killing him. Cape tried it a 2nd time later on, only for Pressure to get the better of him, giving Revenge a huge 7-minute cram, bringing the game from 12-3 to 12-10.

Pandora regained their composure and stormed the keep, however, winning Round 1 by a score of 15:00-10:48.

HOT: Ease, a sizzling 123-58, hitting 110 before anyone got past 95, and proving his critics wrong once again

    Round 2

This was one of the most exhilarating TWLB games in history, with a thrilling finish and an unbelievable outcome. It started off as a real snoozer, with Pandora again taking a substantial lead behind an absolute monster performance from Spezza (159-57), who MVP'd while undering, with another huge performance from Ease (147-78, 2 teks) leading sarger (116-76, 2 teks), Leitz (112-90) and Kate Upton (108-62).

Cape looked like he was going ace a TWLB Final as Pandora hit the 12 minute mark, behind more stellar play from Mattey/Vati, but Revenge -- with its Perfect Season on the line -- made one final push behind the aggressive and always-dangerous Cranny/Mene shark duo, tekking Cape and regaining the FR.

Revenge went on to demolish Pandora with one of the most resilient crams in TWLB history, having had the best cram in the league all-year long, and putting it to effect as the Walls of Babylon couldn't have held out as long as they did, with scything sorties from hellkite (120-70), glavitik (118-96), MM God (116-84), squallFF8 (93-69) and Kian (100-115, 2 teks) making his LB finals debut at under.

Mene/Cran's timing as impeccable as the Pandorians couldn't find an answer to their garrison, as Cape (35-7) imploded dying over and over again trying to force the break, and Pressure (51-6, 2 teks) notching burst after burst, amassing a huge score.

At 13-12 Pandora finally broke and cleared Revenge out, setting up a cram of their own, and leading everyone in spec to say 'gg' as it looked all but over for the Revengers. Kian did a nice job neutralizing sarger in the left coffin, as did Pressure, but time was quickly running out and their press seemed in vain.

Then, suddenly, finally, as if the sun cresting above the horizon and finally breaking dawn, Revenge managed to break forcing Cape into the ear and managing to Tek him with multiple players darting for the flag as it paused at 14:59 before changing hands! Incredibly, against all odds, Revenge had managed to storm the keep and take the flag, down 14:59-13:00.

Pandora raced up the mid-tube, and crashed upon the Revenge cram like a vengeful wave of a wrathful sea, as if the might of Poseidon himself was behind them. Again and again they broke on the shores of Revenge's jagged defense, before Cape, Mr. Clutch himself, managed to slide in, as he attempted to ransack the the top of the flag at 14:59-14:52 but Revenge pounced first, repping him into the top bar before annihilating anyone who dared attach to him, as the clock hit 15:00-14:59, completing one of the greatest comebacks in TWLB history!

HOT: Cranium/menelvagor, for heading one of the most impressive crams in LB finals history, leading the way in one of the best comebacks ever with clockwork timing
HOT: Spezza, with a ridonkulous 159 kill performance, WHILE UNDERING!
NOT: Cape, from red-hot Ace to kamikaze maniac, dying more than the enemy terr despite his team outkilling them 695-613. Best terr alive, but prone to boredom/neglect when winning

    Round 3

It all came down to Round 3 between these basing Titans, with Pandora basing Captain Shayde (105-59) finally entering the fray, after generously sitting the first two rounds to let his fellow players start, and refusing to change the winning line after Round 1. The spidering legend didn't disappoint, having a monster game in the over, leading Ease (103-57) and sarger (99-54) over, as Spezza (95-57) continued to dominate the Under with Kate Upton (80-47) in tow.

Mattey and Vatican Assassin continued their extremely strong play, diving into the enemy encampment and causing mayhem, as Cranium and Mene couldn't maintain their Round 2 heroics to prop Revenge up, despite an early 4-2 lead that quickly evaporated.

Cape (40-3, 3 teks) decided to turn his game on, and with the flip of the switch went from Clumsy to Clutch, leading the Navi with some stellar play and a survival instinct to match Two and A Half Men -- the most horrible comedy on TV that's still somehow on the air after 11 seasons -- just die already!

Kian (91-87), MM God (88-62), hellkite (84-58), glavitik (82-68) and squall (55-57) were solid, but Revenge just wasn't firing on all cylinders like it had been all year long. Sharks weren't as sharp, the Under struggled against an overwhelming under presence they hadn't faced all year long, Pressure (41-10) died a few too many times -- it all added up to culminate in 15:00-8:07 loss.

Somewhat anticlimactic after the scintillating Round 2 comeback, but congrats to Revenge for an amazing season, surpassing every prognosticator and prediction thread, a riveting 8-0 perfect regular season, and a hard fought Finals appearance that they took to Round 3 with a sublime Round 2 performance.

Kudos to Pandora for some ruthless finals play, finally winning LB! Leitz and sarger were huge all season, Spezza proved to be the best under in the game, bar none, Cape was a serendipitous acquisition that ended up being the key piece that Pandora needed for a title, Ease and Shayde showed up big in the playoffs, and Mattey/Vati/Zidane were stalwart defenders all season long!

HOT: Cape, 40-3, 3 tek performance, leaving no room for Revenge to comeback
HOT: Mattey/Vatican Assassin, for a stellar 3 rounds of play with veteran, tear-forged resilience
HOT: Shayde, leading all spiders with 105-59 and sitting all season for other players

    Round 1

Against all odds, the Sweeties reached the TWLJ Final, and against all odds, they continued their pervasive play. Riverside (9-8) stepped up after some less than stellar played last week, aggressively pushing and leading the rush, as Hulk (10-10) continued the incandescent play he's shown all season long, although not to be outdone by Marge (11-8), who's been an absolute beast these playoffs -- dropping 10+ in every single round in the Quarters and Semis except 1, and having yet to neg. Vitja surprisingly put forth a 4-8 despite his hulking post-season presence, but managed to stay alive.

The real story, however, was big daddy Eelam, dropping Superhuman 16-10 performance and putting the nail in Pandora's Coffin, going absolutely Mech on the spear-throwing Navi.

Only Ease (10-10) could achieve parity against the Sweetums factory onslaught, as Amputate (5-9) struggled on a laptop while on vacation, with Zidane (9-10) and Children (8-10) negging ahead of Rough (2-5) getting subbed out for Evildeed (5-5), who put in a solid performance.

Sweet shocked the 150+ in attendance as the Hello Kitty fivesome swarmed Ease and knocked him out, winning 50-44 in a stunning Round 1 upset!

    HOT: Eelam, dat Sweet 16-10
NOT: Amp 5-9 -- have 19 LJ starters, dunno why start someone stuck in Hawaii on a craptop
NOT: Rough 2-5 yet talking insane amounts of shit to people...

    Round 2

Ease. Does anything more need to be said?

    (producer whispers in ear)
Oh, it does? Oh, okay. The man who led Thunder/Sk8 to 5 TWLJ championships IN A ROW returned in this possible swan song performance, obliterating Sweet with an astounding 16-5 performance, with none of his teammates hitting 10. Someone get this kid a backbrace, a massage therapist, and a pamphlet on carpal tunnel syndrome.

Riding on Ease's huge coattails, was Mr. Clutch himself Cape (9-5), who won LJ last year on Dice, Children (9-9), zidane (6-8) and EvilDeed (6-9).

Hulk (11-10) was a monster for Sweet, notching 3-4 twofers and killing Ease at every opportunity, trying in vain to put up some form of resistance to the Pandora culling. Riverside again showed strong play with a solid 10-10, but rest of the Sweetums Factory faultered, with Eelam going 3-10 after his 16-kill performance, Vitja notching 4-10 and Marge negging for the first time these playoffs with a (still respectable) 7-10.

HOT: Ease, with a superlative 16-5 carry
    NOT: Eelam/Vitja, combined 7-20

    Round 3

Round 3 was a close affair, with perennially useless fuck Children (11-10) actually going positive for the first time (1/3 gj you down syndrome scrub) but dying out first (shocker), leaving his squadmates to finish the job of winning him a title so he can make some retarded post about how "he" won, needing Ease (15-10) and Cape (11-8) to carry him once again alongside a nice sub-in from Amputate (7-5) to make up for further sub-par performances from Evildeed (1-5) and Zidane (4-8).

Ease, again was a juggernaut, and Cape, despite being as active as a Cicada in both TWLJ and TWLD, being huge in both, made all the more apropos given that it's TWL 17 and Cicada's hatch once-every-17-years.

Sweet made a valiant effort to thwart the stacked favorites, with Hulk (11-10) once again at the front with a massive effort, being the consistent driving force in the Finals for sweet, as Vitja awoke from his slumber with a nice 10-10 behind solid performances from Riverside (9-10) and Marge (8-10), Eelam (7-10) improving his score but dying out early and hurting their chances.

This was a close shave, with only Cape and Zidane alive to tell the tale at the end as Vitja did a great job knocking Ease out at the end to give them a small chance, but Pandora eventually prevailed in a 50-46 nail biter.

    HOT: Ease, 15-10 juggernaut performance
HOT: Cape the Great, 11-8 finisher

A great season in LJ from Sweet reaching the Finals despite no one predicting them to do so and getting within 4 kills of a title against overwhelming odds from a bunch of stacked cunts.

Also worth mentioning the stupendous regular-season triumphs of Dudgeon, who had a great season with a stellar 9-2 record despite having no superstars (well, other than Dreamwin ofc ) and teaming really well, managing to even beat Pandora. Kudos!

    Round 1

Pandora entered the TWLD Arena, Fierce's Sanctum Sanctorum, to challenge the reigning TWLD champs for their title. Fierce have been Gods of the Arena, amassing a 10-0 perfect season after decimating Real in 2 rounds the previous year.

Who dares challenge the might of Rome?

Apok (12-10), DEEZ NUTS (12-5), death row (9-4), Skepsis (9-7), and Vash (8-4) answered that question in Round 1 -- No One. These Gladiators have been unrivaled for years and continued that tradition, slaughtering Pandora 50-30, leading many to wonder what Pandora, a basing squad, was even doing in LD.

Not a single player on Pandora went positive, as Ease (8-10), Mythril (8-10), Geisha (5-10), Amputate (0-4), CrimsonX (2-6) and Obi (3-3) got trampled by the superior coordination, aim, and veteran hand of the much-vaunted 1-leaguers, whose razor-like focus on a singular ship has proven too much for anyone to match.

    Round 2

Until now. Ease, like Spartacus before him, led an eclectic, rag-tag band of ex-Thunder, Dice, and Pandora rebels to fight themselves out from under Fierce's boot heel.

Spezza (14-10), the Gaul of Canadia, a baser and a spider, came out of left field to lead Pandora and clinch the MVP! (You'd think a fan of the Senators would be more loyal to Rome)

Ease (10-7) continued to lead Pandora across all three leagues, tirelessly starting in all 9 rounds (and missing MVPing in all three by a single kill in LD), while Mythril (11-9) continued to be a force to be reckoned with luring, escaping, darting and exposing himself to constant danger so the mid-range shooters can get kills unmolested as he drives his talent to the forefront with Matrix-like dodges.

Geisha posted an improved 9-10 while Cape also started in his third different league of the day, notching a respectable 6-8.

Fierce was determined to end this in two, as DEEZ NUTS churned out another beastly 13-10, but Vash (9-10), drow (9-10), Skeptsis (8-10) and Apok (6-10) couldn't seal the deal, narrowly falling 50-45 as Pandora miraculously managed to keep the Triple Crown threat alive as they dove into Round 3 for the decisive battle.

    Round 3

This round was an absolute slog, tied 8-8 after 8 minutes, moving along at an absolutely brutal pace with nary an on-screen kill as both sides mailed in their bullets from alternate zip codes.

Once again, Ease (15-9) and Mythril (16-9) proved to be the difference, putting Los Pandoras on their shoulders as Spezza (9-10), Geisha (6-6), Obi (3-5) and Cape (1-3) tagged along for the Shaq & Kobe carry.

Fierce, again, were resilient (but unspectacular), with no one posting below 7 kills, as Skepsis (11-10), Apok (8-10), Vash (8-10), death row (7-10) and DEEZ NUTS (8-10) fought tooth and nail at the end, but couldn't stop the ex-Thunder combo, as Pandora took it 50-42 to do what Dice, what Syndicate, what no other squad in TWL history could do -- sweep all three finals to achieve the Triple Crown!

HOT: Mythril, 16-9, monster performance, great rushing/luring, unselfish play and deserving the LD title!
HOT: Ease, another massive 15-9, where are his haters at now?

Congrats to everyone, especially the Captains (a thankless task), for making the season happen, and to all the mods who officiated the games and put in the time to referee each of the many matches!

    TWL Finals MVP: Ease

Ease started in all three leagues across all nine exhausting rounds without a break, MVPing multiple times and dropping ridiculous numbers in spider, javelin, and warbird, leading Pandora to the game's first ever Triple Crown, something many thought would never happen, and adding to his plethora of medals -- finally silencing the din of underachieving trolls nipping at his heels once and for all
