well no I can't help u, but I can share your computer wreckage pain given in the same week both my 3 year old phone and my 5 year old pc broke.

personaly I think macs are a bit expensive and for my needs Linux + It's free download software covers me. with one exception PhotoShop over Gimp. worth checking out as I saved 88euro or $127 to get an OS free pc

ps posting from new phone , computer a few weeks away 0_o

er yes you probably would want to just stick with a windows computer. macs look really nice and are definitely more stable, but you'll get irritated by the small things that are just easier to do on windows, and the lack of software (and especially warez)

I just bought this computer ... I've had a MacBook for 6 yrs now and it's still a great machine I just needed an upgrade and decided to go the PC route strictly because this was $400 less than a new MacBook Pro and I don't care about an aluminum case or a backlit keyboard. Plus I like the idea of dual gfx processors so it can also save on battery life.

EDIT: Software is MUCH easier to find for OSX now than it was when I bought my MacBook. I can only imagine it will get better in the next few years.

Oh yeah also .. if you buy a mouse that has a right click button -- you don't have to worry about the "world of no right clicks" all that much.

Macintosh apples are really good, but I prefer Granny Smith apples instead.

ilya, i think jerome means that if you're a long time windows user and you're used to lots of keyboard shortcuts, you'll find that those shortcuts are different under os x.

at least that's the biggest difference/annoyance for me.

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1343 <<--- full list of keyboard short cuts

everything is basically the same but simplified on a mac, yes you'll have to get over the differences between windows vs mac however once you do its easy, on top of that theres plenty of help via discussion boards or just general reading from their support site

new i core intels have different graphics cards which help improve run time of the battery maximizing it to around 8 hours less your streaming porn constantly

buy the app on top of that by putting 30/50 bones away per pay check so you got 3 years coverage on any defective parts where shipping and handling are paid for and any issues you run into you can call people up for help

the operation system is unix based, 3 levels to it, system level ( don't fuck with ), hd level and user level, if you have an issue in your user, you pull the pref file reboot and if the issue is still there, remove the hd files, still there, reinstall...

i suggest if you do buy one, get an external hard drive the size of the computer, install all the shit you need, plus bring over all your music and run a time machine back up, it'll back up all your files and make a disk image of the working os with all your imported/installed needed's, if shit goes wrong you just plug in the back up drive and restore your shit as it was from when you first had the back up done.... it'll install all the third party apps you backed up ... helpful if your running a 7 disk pro suite like pro tools
