COVID Basing Tournament

Many of us are stuck at home for an indeterminate amount of time. I've noticed that at any given time there are now 40-70 people circulating for basing games every night.

Why not bring it back to the mid-2000s and host a basing tournament one (or more) of the weeknights. 4-6 captains/teams, a live draft, and then single-elimination tournament (team A vs. B + team C vs. D, winners play in a final round)?

Thought it would be fun to shake things up and host something like this. Thoughts?

Basing Cup would be a good idea, I'd be down to run a limited 3-week event.

If it's weekdays, then 4 teams.

You play each team 4x, so 12 games, 6 games per week for the first two weeks. 2 games per day on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays.

Semi-Final on Tuesday of Week 3, then Final on Thursday of Week 3.

Maybe 6:00pm EST and 6:30pm EST timeslots? Not sure you can really go much earlier than that.

Do signups, then a draft, followed by a non-signup draft of active players (reverse order -- whoever got last pick in normal gets 1st in that one) in case they decide they wanna play later on, so no FA draft, no trading.

4 really strong captains, no star caps.

On weekdays?

You need 50 people to show every day at like 6pm to run 3 teams without forfeits, that's upper limit-y and a gamble.

I mean it's somewhere between 4 and 6. 4 is safe, 5 is middle, 6 is upper limit.
