To Mr. History buff. I don't doubt you know some stuff about the 2nd world war and you've probably watched Band of Brothers hundreds of times. But, sorry to say, the fight for Russia did break the Germans backs. For many reasons, the main one being the supplies, and the second was it was the first failure of the blitzkrieg and showed that it wasn't unbeatable and there were strategies to defend against it.

The Americans were a huge part in defeating the Germans and I have so much respect for their veterans and the people who lost their lives making sure I was free. But it is this stupid american persona of, "we saved your asses in WWII" just pisses me off. For one thing, you didn't save shit. Your ancestors were a part of a worl collaboration to stop an empire which threatened the whole world. And please stop using 'ellipses' (....) it gets very annoying.

I do agree, and my comment was quite ignorant, but I do get mad when people who do owe quite a bit to our country, not only from WWII but also monetarily (the US loans out a shit load of money each year) complain about our country, without ever stepping foot onto it's soil

You know this is the kind of thing that pisses many europeans off (and probably quite a few people from elsewhere too). WWII is history. That doesn't mean it's forgotten, it's just that we have moved on since then. What is slightly annoying is that some americans feel that the rest of the world owes them something until the end of time, or use their participation in WWII as a reason to excuse anything they have done since.

One bad thing that I keep noticing is that when one person gives their opinion, another thinks the whole country thinks the same way, and a little squabble between 2 people turns into " your country is stupid because of ___, no American can ever stfu, blah blah blah" To clear the air:

-Not all Americans agree with Squeezer. Not all americans believe we were the saving grace in WW2, and we don't believe Europe owes us a bj or any kind of reach-around courtesy.

-All europeans aren't condescending assholes. If they seem like it here, it's most likely because of some american trying to one up them, or because someone got soccer confused with football again.

Firstly, what froe said was correct. The russian was the starting point for the fall down of the empire of hitler, the russians let hitler get up to st. petersburg where they regrouped and stood up to Hitler's forces. Hitler's forces were stuck, also in Moskou. Then the Russian Winter came and Hitler's forces werent prepared for this at all, because Hitler thought he could take Russia in about a month. So alot of the soldiers died during this winter, due to cold etc. Hitler had to fall back. Kinda like how Napoleon's domination ended. The russian's soon after went after them, making the germans fight on 2 fronts. It was the biggest mistake Hitler ever made to attack Russia, before he had absolute control over west europe.

You must on the other hand also not forget that some important battles in Africa and south europe were being fought and won by European soldiers. And squeezer does this mean America owes alot to France too? After all America would never have beaten the English in their civil war without the help of the French. They would never have been a free country and still be under the Rule of the english if it wasnt for the French. You ofcourse already know this, being a history buff and all.

Like I said before: fuck off with your "thank america for wwII, because 1 we would have won the war eventually without america, it would have taken longer, much longer, more losses, etc. But we would have eventually, and second, Eventually Hitler was a thread to America 2. You must not forget Hitler was leading the world in the rocket's and missiles and would eventually have made Atomic bombs before america and have developed a rocket going far enought to reach America eventually.

I just think that the whole tax situation (which apperently made your life better) is not good for your economy and in ten years the US is going to have a major problem with it. I mean it's only the top 1% of money making people recieving benefit from these cuts? And, also you don't have tax cuts during a war, it's not a smart idea. And honestly if you see some of the stuff Bush says. A lot of it is lies, a lot of what he says is just plain wrong. America has so many intelligent people yet you chose Bush/Cheney to run it. I just can't understand the real reason behind it. Granted Kerry is no saint himself and probably would be a mediocre President. But, Bush has had a shot and he has basically turned most Nations against America (no it's not our biased media, all my news from Bush comes on NBC and ABC) and has basically started what could be the downfall of your economy. I don't want that to happen to the US, I love the US, it's an amazing country with great people. But I mean, how can people trust someone like this, who continuously lies to you.

Holy shit I just saw Bush's grandma who's in Germany helping to get absentee votes for her grandson. They asked her about Michael Moore (the filmaker behind, "bowling for columbine" etc.). And she said "although she hadn't seen any of his work, he's an "Ass" because she saw him and the republican convention and he looked "grungy"". I was like, wtf? It reminded me so much of how I portray so many Americans who like Bush. (not saying they are idiots). But everytime I think of Bush supporters, I assume that although they don't know all the facts they vote because "kerry's an ass and Bush is a hero". I just can't understand the thought process behind putting a moron in office.

Ok first, 'm not into the whole voting thing. I turned 18 in 2001 and have still not registered and I don't plan on registering because I simply really don't care unless someone grabs my attention. I dislike Bush for many reasons, mainly the fact he was not voted into office( you can argue all you want, America as a whole did not want Bush ), his whole "faith based" program( faith/religion does not belong in politics ), etc etc.... that and a pretzel nearly ended his life.

Second, damn there's a lot of knowledgeable people, at least in the forums, a real 180 from what I see in Pub 0/1 in TW with a bunch of immature idiots( none of which I have seen in here ).

Third, well there's not much of a third, guess I polished it all off in two. Sorry n.n;
