I decided to pick up Arcade Fire's cd since everyone who's got it likes it. I listened to it a couple times and agree. It's a pretty damn good album, easily one of the better cd's of 2004. I like MM and Kanye better, but it's at least top 3-4 for me.
I think Pitchfork had a pretty accurate review when they said something along the lines of, "Has a Pixies and Talking Heads sound while completely avoiding sounding unoriginal."
I agree the singer has a Frank Black/David Byrne kind of quality to his voice, and the music has a clear Pixies influence, but not to the point where you feel it's a ripoff.
Maybe the more I listen to it I will like it even better than I do now, which would be fucking cool.

I meant in general termsOriginally posted by Mr. PeanutsThough I do like Green Day, I believe theres no way they can be the best punk band, times have changed.
GD isn't even my own favorite punk band, I just mean they have put punk "on the map" with the successes they've had.
For the record None More Black is my favorite

						Currently listening to:
Valient Thorr - Immortalizer
Dead to Me - Little Brother
Tim Barry - Manchester
Lemuria - Get Better
Alkaline Trio - Agony and Irony
