My gf and I think we figured out the horse. We think that it was her gaurdian angel, who protected her, and kept her for being captured, for doing her selfless act, even though it was killing a man. When Sawyer awoke, the horse came back to say good bye to Kate, because she now had Sawyer to protect her. That nuzzle that the horse gave was a good bye.

As far as the other part, I believe that the others are the Scientists, who went renegade, started a Utopian Society, and are looking for those that are "good" to join into it. Thus, they try to kidnap innocent kids to prove their Utopian society will work. But, I believe that they will kill all those that are not worthy, so that their Utopian society will remain unharmed. So, the video tells them not to communicate, because the other's will come and protect themselves, and their way of life.

In essence, I think the others are hypocritical Utopianistic Scientists, hell bent on proving their theory right.
