Truth or happiness

If there was something I care a lot, it would be my happiness. I WILL do anything for my happiness. I like to help weak people, but that’s only because I can and that makes me happy. If one day I woke up and discovered I actually enjoyed watching world burn, then I would not hesitate to light the torch.

There is, however one thing, and maybe one thing only that I care more about my own happiness, and that is, the truth. Even though I know this obsession for truth is not rational at all. (Maybe I just like to be tormented).

I will duck down the turbulent ocean of dark water and climb the frozen top of the most dangerous mountain ... if it allows me to find the truth.

But if I could do so in the comfort of an air-cond room and with the aid of a computer and the internet, it will be fabulous :wub:

What is more important to you? Truth, or happiness?

This is actually very interesting.

Many of the people who help the poor and needy these days does it just to make themself feel good and boost their conscience. Why is this happening? What happened to the thought that we're helping people in trouble because it's a privilege?

Also, I feed the homeless with leftovers from conferences, I don't give them money. And I do this because I feel bad for them, not because it will make me happy.

Depends on your definition/meaning of the word "truth" in your post. If you mean pseudo-truth then I'd rather be happy. If you mean objective truth, then even if it was attainable wouldn't it make you completely content?

The words "truth" and "happiness" are too vague to expect a serious, well thought answer. Then again, this IS TW forums.
