I just got my braces off, and I hate my stupid clear plastic retainers. What are your guys' experiences with these things? They say to wear them 24 hours a day, but I'm not sure I'm willing to deal with having a lisp for three months. Has anyone just worn them at night and had their teeth stay okay?

I never wore my retainer aftr I got my braces off. My teeth hardly moved back.

man if your parents shelled out 3-5k for braces so you dont get mocked the rest of your life, you could have the decency to wear a retainer for 3 more months to make sure of it lol

you adapt quick to them, you wont lisp for 3 months...

I'm with boss on this one. You probably had braces for 2 years or so, what's another 3 months with a retainer. I'd probably take it off if you're giong to a party or something, but I think I'd wear it most the time.

I wear mine every night, if you don't your teeth will slowly get crooked and you will look like your from England (NO OFFENSE HEHE)

So if your ortho says to wear em all day/night you should, sooner or later you'll only need to wear it at night. So just get used to them, and you can learn to talk normally with it in ez

face i wore mine just at night and the orthodontist never knew, he thought i wore it 24/7 because my teeth never shifted back...it all depends on the person i think

My parents had to pay 40000 old Belgium franks for my braces, which is about 1000$. I threw it away after one week....luckely we have something called "Insurance". They didn't believe that a car ran over my braces, but luckely for us they paid us the money

i have one right now.. and i have gone as much as several months without even touching the thing. my teeth have not shifted back.. had braces for 4 years, my teeth dont move very fast. however im currently trying to wear it more so i can just get it over with.

your lisp should die down, i gotta wear retainers at night twice a week.
