really, the children of tw staff want to just ban me so i cant play this mediocre season too badly anyway, so theres no point in me caring enough to play. That attitude will carry over when i get back also, so i dont know if you'll be dealing with me much at all anymore...but we'll see about that depending on whether or not i feel like playing spaceships again

as I'm on a coffee break from work and slighty bored, I think I'd finally contribute something to this conversation. I feel I am qualified to offer some insight into what has happened to TWL and competition in TW in general during the 21st century.

Here goes:

I am one of these old fogies who have won championships already and are not as passionate about winning them again as the newer players are. Many claim that the skill level of the zone has really evened out and while I do not disagree with this (i'll tell you why shortly), I have to say that the older players who formed the historical powerhouse squads are not on top of their game anymore.

Why?

Firstly, they're not as passionate about the game anymore, like I pointed out earlier. Personally I find it extremely difficult to concentrate on this game fully nowadays, at least extremely difficult compared to how easy it used to be. I was recently browsing through my old screenshots and I was reminded of how easily I used to dominate all sorts of wb and jav events.. (please don't concentrate on this comment, this is not meant to be a self-congratulatory ego boost post) this is not the case anymore. While I do not feel that my skill level has particularly decreased, I find doing so nowadays a lot more difficult. One point I've noticed that it is a lot easier to do in duels.. there I still feel extremely confident, but team games always seem to take that away from me. Maybe it's just my age (and consequently the age of all the rest of the 'powerhouse' players).

Secondly, it has become a whole lot easier for people to practice for TWL. TWD, wbduel and javduel all created an _enormous_ change in the zone.. no longer do the elite remain unchallenged when the underdogs have such an easy time practicing for those big matches.

These changes are not necessarily for worse, but not necessarily for good either. Let everyone decide on their own. Any thoughts in general?

i agree with the concentrating thing, because i feel the same way to a much lesser extent than you must be... when i play a lot of these squads now I look at their players and I remember them when they were still terrible terrible players, and most of them still are, and its really hard to focus on playing the way I should vs them for mainly that reason... maybe its that I dont accept that they have gotten better, but my thought is if they have gotten better after years of being bad, then I'm pretty sure so have I since ive always been ahead of the curve when it comes to my generation of player

the old old elites really dont care anymore, and that is why this game sucks for my generation of players, there is nothing to strive for anymore because once your on top theres nowhere left to go. The old elites always gave that level of play that you wanted to achieve, but now thats gone and its the new generation guys that the new guys are trying to mimic. Now I know things like this always happen in cycles, but in my mind the level of elite skill that the old guys used to have compared to the new elite guys of todays subspace is not on par. Don't get me wrong, there are a lot of good players still playing this game... but they are no banzis, bloods, demonics, fieryfires
(or even sikas recently) of back in the day...

now I know I havent won any titles, i never wanted to be a kiss ass and suck up to the syndicate players, personally I had more fun staying with the quicksand guys myself and had no intention of leaving to join any -f- syndi etc squads like a lot of you newer guys did to win titles, im not including jav or base squads because I dont enjoy javing, and i rarely base enough to care about that league. But that does not mean im any less skilled than probably any wb playing this game right now, and thats a fact.

the problems with this day in age is that the best wb squadrons out there is style and stray? That right there should explain how bad things are. Style tries to be like syndicate but it isnt, and stray is just another ALF/Sake squad ron with a few dice players mixed in. Stray is just a bunch of laggy brazilians who some of them still use CE (delectable) to win games. Style has some very very good players, but really isnt a powerhouse, no one looks at style and gets scared for when they play them in TWL.

I guess im just saying everything is watered down... to put it into perspective for NFL fans, its like in past years, TWL was like the AFC, with the Patriots and Colts being the superpowers and destroying everyone, while the new TWL is like the NFC, with most of the teams being 4-5 and very very mediocre



also, dont bash me saying my squad sucks I dont need to talk. personally I know it sucks, but its what you get when you come back from deployment during week 2-3 and have no idea what any of the squads are since they have all new names and none look very promising. Plus none of our wbs care enough to show up during twld, and our javs care even less to show up to twlj. Maybe thats the problem? When people that haven't won championships yet don't care enough to show up for TWL games anymore, maybe you know theres a big problem

yea the older players seems to care more about nascar on sundays than twl.. kinda weird. maybe that's why the ops decided to put twl more over the winter in the nascar offseason................
