  • IGF and the games conference, what can you do?

Obviously nothing because the IGF jackasses delayed their unveilings of the 2005 student showcase entries until the 21st.

Anyone going to GDC? (Games development conference?) Say yes so I can meet you there and kick your ass because somewhere along the line we had an unresolved fued.

In other news, as I stated, IGF decided to be funny by delaying their release. Meaning, there is a whole week of unrelaxed relaxation where the bet between me and 50 other students are on the line. Hey, don't we all wish we could go to GDC for free?

Oh wait, thats right, only people in "The Industry" are allowed to go to the games conference. Haha. Silly me, and I thought I would actually see any of you there.

    Next note:
    Mission: Project Hoshimi:
"Create a mind blowing 3D video game and show off your coding and algorithm
abilities. Code the strategy and behavior of a team of microscopic robots
traveling inside the human body. This is also a good opportunity to win a
trip to Japan, since Microsoft is sending the top 6 teams (teams of two) in
this category to Yokohama. Detailed info on the competition can be found at
www.project-hoshimi.com <http://www.project-hoshimi.com/> as well as a link to register for the competition. "

A free trip to japan? Wowie! For those interested, you get 1 month to create a 3d game. Sounds good except you have to learn, understand, and employ, their SDK. Which sounds like a lot of bullshit considering that no one will be able to use their SDK ever again, plus the fact its only 1 month. Say 1 week to learn a whole new language, and 2 weeks of development, and 1 week of playtesting. Think its easy a 3D game in 2 weeks? Look at HalfLife2, they managed it.

Next news, anyone actually thinking about attending Digipen Summer Workshop? You probably want to talk to someone that doesn't get paid to say only the good things about the school. Drop me a note if you want to learn more about the program and the 2 weeks + $3000, you and your wallet will go through.
While I sleep, I dream of programming, but while I'm awake, I program my dreams.
