  • Week 5 and main season overview

Sipping drinks at beach and watching drama unfold was my topic for this week. But now i am back and its time to check what went on in last week of main season:

    Ambush
5th week rating: meh (1 win from 3)
How did main season go: Ambush ended up top rated wb team, but will have tough times in jav and base.

Ambush didnt have much to fight for in last season. They got comfortable win in wb against 40.5 vp Thunder, with saiyan once again doing miracles and rest of team supporting admirably. In jav Ibex going 0-10 didnt help, while rest of team put up a good fight against pure luck. And in base we saw first jav performance of the season with turban going wildly negative in a match where legendary was fighting for their survival.

Playoff view: Bye week and spot in semis is guaranteed in wb. Ambush is probably looking to avoid a team that plays without low vp, as generally the losses they have had have come against teams setup like that. In jav they need to wait for their opponent, being rather seeded and in base they have to fight dice, who they won in round 1, but both teams have changed quite a bit since then, so time will tell how this matchup will end.

    Pure Luck
5th week rating: strong until the end (2 wins from 3)
How did main season go: Among top 2 teams with bye in jav and base.

Pure luck struggles in wb continued with pretty embarrasing loss to already eliminated Prime. Pretty much only dak was playing at expected level. It was followed by 2 close, but still successful games against first Ambush in jav, where Rampage gave mvp worthy performance and then base vs Power, who was also fighting for their survival. PL sharks again delivered, compensating Genx outperforming Tiny, but in the end PL spiders made the difference, highlighted by Banks mvp performance.

Playoff view: deserved bye week awaits for jav and base, but surprisingly, wb has been up and down ride for PL. If we look at main season results, legendary is going to beat power in wb, but power top line can surprise. Nethertheless, if legendary wins PL is left to fight whoever Legendary does not pick, otherwise they can choose themselves. Wb is a bit problematic, they did go 4-0 in main season, but then went 0-4 in latter half, lets see if they can find their shape again.

    Power
    5th
week rating: meh (1 wins from 3)
How did main season go: they were basically saved by last minute change of rule, allowing them to have another chance with play in games. By my calculations they should have been out.

Power started weekend well by getting a rare win in wb. But indeed it was also first time lineup beam, zid, genx, okyo, bacon played together. Power has shown to somewhat become alive for playoffs, have they finally found their winning formula? Cloud, their opponents, definitely were not playing with their best lineup.
In Jav, power lost to thunder in close game, while yogi on opponent team getting crucial KOs, definitely a demoralizing loss, similar close loss to base against PL ended their main season.
Zid quickly went to discord to start his desperate effort in trying to turn a bit unclear rules into his favor, but in reality, power should have been out, facing worse head to head results against Thunder and Legendary. At least as far as i have been in tw, rules have always been used that way, but 3-way tie probably is also a first? Anyways after days, of what must have been very difficult time for league staff, a weird compromise solution is now on table with power having to first face legendary in 3 play-in games.

Playoff view: Looking at main season, power definitely should have hopes up in outplaying legendary in jav and in base. In wb, legendary is probably a favorite. Who knows maybe the warmup games have good effect on power for quarterfinals. I cant definitely see them making it in at least 1 league. If power wins jav, them they also get to pick their opponent.

    Legendary
5th week rating: perfect (3 wins from 3)

How did main season go: probably have to be the most pissed off team, as their last weekend heroics actually got them to playoff spot, but now they need to play those play-in games against Power.

What a legendary weekend this turned out to be for Bombed and his crew. They knew they probably had to win all games in order to make it and they did just that, but it certainly wasnt easy. In Wb it came down to autopilot vs christian10 having game of his life, but ap still getting that crucial kill in final duel. In jav they were surprisingly struggling against 40.5 vp Prime, but eventually still won and in base they got support by turban going wild in jav on opposing team, beating ambush.

Playoff view: So just like power, they now have 3 games ahead to decide if they make it anywhere. Probably best chances are in wb, where they have been strong all season.

    Dice
5th week rating: nothing to remember (0 wins from 2)

How did main season go: secured semis in wb/jav, but in base are lowest rated team still playing.

Dice having really nothing to play for lost playing with 2 vps down against cloud and then had flew debuting as shark in game vs Thunder fighting for playoffs, losing both games pretty clearly.

Playoff view: In duelling leagues dice is doing well and in semis, with highest rank for jav and opportunity to choose semifinal opponent. In base though, they will have tough game against Ambush coming up. Base has been most up and down of leagues for Dice. Those teams met along time ago in first round though and both teams have changed then, so lets see how this semifinal will look.

    Terrorist
5th week rating: well... (1 win from 2)
How did main season go: secured semis in base, but have tough games in wb and jav coming up.

Terrorist really had only 1 game to play, that game vs legendary i already briefly discussed with r3 superstar christian10 keeping them aloat, but eventually still losing. In base Prime couldnt show, so autowin.

Playoff view: terrorist will definitely play in semis in base. In jav they have to wait if power manages to beat legendary. If they do, they also lose that pick option for opponent. Just like pure luck in wb, terrorist also won first 4 games of league and then lost 4 last ones. So their shape in jav is quite questionable. In wb they have been really unpredictable, sometimes playing well, sometimes choking.

    Cloud
5th week rating: oh well (1 win from 2)
How did main season go: they are out

Bad showups really didnt help also Cloud in last weekend, who knew they had to win both games last weekend and were still dependant on other team performances as well. Unfortunately it all ended against power. Once again having not optimal lineup with 42vps, they had to face loss, with 100 playing worst with 4-10 going out in 8 minutes.
Beating dice in final game of season in jav did not matter anymore. While at some point discussion was up for adding cloud to mix of teams for play-ins, i think its really honorable of mythril to withdraw from play-ins. What a guy and great leader.

Playoff view: I have to say cloud actually had really alot of potential and majority of their season they really struggled with key people missing out. But i guess thats twdt for you. For jav for example they won their last 3 games with 10+ difference, once all key people like aprix started showing. In wb they were always dangerous with myth in game.

    Prime
5th week rating: honorable (1 win from 3)
How did main season go: they are out

My big respect goes to Prime people who actually showed up for last weekend and put up a fight. Even got a win in wb with dwopple showing maybe he should have played all season and game vs legendary was also decent.

Playoff view: Prime definitely had its potential in duelling leagues, and pulled a nice surprise every now and then, but poor drafting really hurt them mainly in base, where even some trades couldnt bring them up to other team levels.

    Thunder
5th week rating: good (2 wins from 3)
How did main season go: barely made it, but they are in playoffs

Thunder had its backs against the wall for last weekend and it all started awfully when they could only line up 40.5 and lost to ambush in wb. But then in jav, best actually showed, which also meant his best buddy y0gi got to make his debut and what a debut that was, getting 2 KOs in crucial game against power and then in base they beat dice, barely but still surely making it across the line.

Playoff view: Thunder was one of those teams that didnt get a bye in any league, so they got a busy weekend ahead of them. They only know they face winner of power/legendary in base, and have to wait for play-ins to see who they face in other leagues. Thunder has been also struggling throughout the season but if best actually decides to show, they could become a real threat, depending of course low vps also being up to level.

As main season is over i will also give my personal awards to best players for each league:
WB - 1st place - Creature (he was clutch whenever he showed and was fuel behind dice being among top 2 teams) 2nd place - saiyan (key player for ambush, winning wb) 3rd place - banzi (for 8.5, he was playing on very high level)
Best low vp - Christian10 (was solid most of season but last week game really quality)
JAV - 1st place - Cape (powerful entire season, making dice real powerhouse in this) 2nd place - Tiny (same words for Pure Luck captain, really strong performances) 3rd place - Saiyan (ambush would have been at big trouble if it werent for his heroics, also highest rated player)
Best low vp - rabbit! (really solid performances as 7* for entire season with power
Spider - 1st place - Banks (keeping Pure luck dominating in base, several mvps, always clutch in games) 2nd place - Frozen Throne (similar quality to Banks, what a duo) 3rd place - Rainbow Seeker (absolute killbeast)
Best low vp - rozay (very solid performances in sometimes struggling Thunder team)
Shark - 1st place willby (has made a brilliant partnership with mark) 2nd place markmrw (difficult to pick between first 2) 3rd place omega red (very solid entire season)
Best low vp - zapata (despite legendary struggles, he has played well
Terrier - (PS really hard to judge this, has been up and down season) 1st place spookedone (probably most solid terrier through season, nothing spectacular, but did his job 2nd place tiny, also best low vp (without a defeat and has definitely improved) 3rd genx (taken this role well, kept power in game several times when rest of his team has struggled)

So main season is over, time for those exciting play-ins and playoffs.
Working...
