TW Cup last week review
Loads of games again played last weekend, with some surprise results and some teams showing great resiliance. Lets see how it went down:
WB
Prime (2-0 over weekend) - Prime had 2 very tight games, but managed to turn both in their favor in endgame. In first game, hippos had upper hand for most of game with renzi having a bad day. After subbing in dwopple though, prime managed to take control of game and narrow gap. Dwopple had key KO taking out tiny, while raazi and jurassic had excellent game in neck-to-neck fight against bike, refer and zapata and 2 v 3 situation. Second game vs leaders Avengers was of similar nature with riverside and again raazi being heros and securing win in closing stages. With late league heroics, wb favorites Prime secured second position in league and now have to wait, who will Avengers choose as their semis opponent. All is very open there still.
Ethereal (2-0 over weekend) - Ekkos crew had really good weekend, winning both games without their FA superstar pick mythril. Team of ekko, jz, cripple, dak and zizu showed great teamwork and well organized gameplay, first dismantling alieexpress with zizu and dak having great games and then managing their deaths really well in close win against hippos. With potentially adding myth to ranks for play-ins and semis, they have real potential to be a worthy opponent to whoever. Early season still didnt allow them to get to playoffs directly as head-to-head against hippos and alie makes them first having to take part in play-ins.
Alieexpress (0-1 over weekend) - Siaxis and crew had only 1 game for weekend, which they lost pretty clearly to ethereal. Despite bombed going wild with 16 kills, rest of team failed to support him with byakko main culprit with 3-7 and being subbed out. So now they have to put up their best game against ethereal, who has been on the rise in play-ins. Looking at last week results, i must say ethereal seems to be favorite there.
Avengers (0-1 over weekend) - Iron and crew had only 1 game against Prime. Close match, but near the end Prime took control and managed to stay alive better, berzerk going out after 8 minutes definitely didnt not help them. Real games start now, will be interesting to see who Iron picks as opponent. First of course we need to know who will win the play-in, it is also possible that they will pick hippos and let whoever has warmed up and won the play-in match Prime.
Happy Hippos (0-2 over weekend) - Hippos had pretty poor weekend, losing both close games, but better head-to-head against other lower ranked teams allowed them to still make it to playoffs. Prime game i already described, it was mainly down to personal brillance from prime in ending phases and ethereal just teamed better and managed to dominate them.
So as conclusions, nothing is decided in WB yet, Avengers and Prime both had in conclusion good main season and are the favorites, but Ethereal seem also on rise. Lets see how play-in goes and exciting semis await us.

Pure Luck (2-0 over weekend) Pure luck finally starting playing to their potential last weekend. Their first game vs undermanned Terrorist was not promising at first and for good part of game they were -5, but then managed to get 10 kills in a row in complete collapse of opponent and great performances from zidane and racka got only their second win of season. Second game vs already eliminated ethereal was already domination with Tiny mvping. So although ending season with 4th place, i am not sure Monster wants to pick them as semis opponent.
Monster (2-0 over weekend) Monster had only 1 real game, a good matchup vs Terrorist in last weekend, as Pub Crackheads game was forfeited win. Still this means Monster goes on undefeated and remains biggest favorite of the league. Lets see who they pick as their opponent as they have beaten all teams twice already this competition.
Pub Crackheads (2-1 over weekend) Stayons crew had a good weekend, despite missing enough players for the early game, which they later forfeited as they did not need a win anymore. They completely crushed Ethereal and had a very comfortable win vs struggling Terrorist to go into playoffs with high motivation. To further boost their confidence, yeh seems to be back at his best with excellent 17-6 agaisnt ethereal.
Ethereal (0-2 over weekend) Ethereal still had a chance before weekend, but watching pure luck win their games made them soon realize that it is time to say goodbye to this league. Their roster was just lacking enough quality javs and FA draft didnt bring enough support as well.
Terrorist (0-3 over weekend). Terrorist had a good tournament until yesterday losing all 3 games. Several reasons of course as well. 2 key players in cape and commodo were missing for most of 2 games, rest had pretty unstable performance with jabra once again showing 10* in one game and 7* in other and dreamwin also being surprisingly contained. Not to mention having to line up players like myself at times
. In any case, potential is still there if people show, lets see how playoffs turn out.
So ethereal is out, Monster has to pick opponent and i have a feeling they will not pick pure luck for semis, so it is either going to be crackheads or terrorist. Will we see some upsets? Turn up next weekend for the real tournament to begin.
BASE
Terrorist (3-0 over weekend) Base got turned upside down last weekend. Teams struggling like terrorist/crab champions had excellent games, while dominant teams like ethereal and caped crusaders suddenly started losing. Terrorist alongside Ethereal had the most difficult schedule with 3 games in a row. Despite missing all terriers (spooked, draft, cape), they still showed great teamwork and managed to take out first caped crusaders (giving them the first loss of this season), then onlyteks, making them effecively drop from playoffs and last but not least also ethereal in a close game that had both side dominating for periods of game, but terrorist having upper end in key moments. Great performances all around from dw terr, bombed/absurd/captain/lee/jabra (thanx man for staying up), cig/mark in shark. So big boost for playoffs and almost caught up with caped crusaders.
Crab Champions (2-0 over weekend) Similar to Terrorist zizus crew came from ashes and finished main season strong. Zizu was once again great against Ethereal with willby/zidane forming great shark duo and cripple and rough leading the spiders. Similary impressive was their win against Caped Crusaders with unlimited switching zapata in under role. So looking into playoffs, looks like it is most possible that both 2 in-form teams have to face each other as i fail to see why renzi would pick either team they just lost to as their opponent.
Onlyteks (1-1 over weekend) Dwopple was in difficult situation before weekend with only 2 games to be played. They really needed to win both to move forward. All started well as they secured win vs Ethereal with zizzo having a good terr game, river/dwop as shark duo and jurassic/jamal dominating spiders. But terrorist was too much for them. Zizzo was struggling with terrorist aggressive spids harrasing him and in key moments terrorist just made better decisions. As all main opponents kept winning and onlyteks didnt havent more games left, it was game over for them.
Caped Crusaders (0-2 over weekend) Caped crusaders really didnt have much to play for this weekend as they had already secured top spot after undefeated season. They also missed some players for this weekend, especially hulk in first game, but heafin also had great games in terr before. In any case, some slack has to be give for that team for losing both games, they are still the most successful team for main season, but pretty sure those 2 losses influence confidence to some extent going into crucial phase of season.
Ethereal (0-3 over weekend) Ethereal must be happy that they have had a pretty good season before, because last weekend was pretty awful and they had to thank terrorist for eliminating only teks in order to still make it to playoffs after 3 straight losses. None of the losses were really land-slides, but similar in each game was mistakes in those crucial last minutes of games. So most likely they now have to face Caped Crusaders in playoffs, with both teams looking to recover their early season form.
So goodbye to dwop and crew, base final weekend really shook things up, lets see who will get to finals in what will be definitely very close semis next week.
WB
