Our prayers have been answered and TW gods have given us, peasants, another chance to fight for glory.
Welcome WB cup of summer 2023.
We have 6 teams, ready to fight for the title with vys, racka, lockdown, ease, mythril and iron survivor as caps. What an all-star team of massive names I must say. And "hurray", as no VPs are counted this time, so really the top players from each squad will actually play, meaning majority of the players drafted will be warming bench.
I am listing my favorite teams from bottom to top, as stated, massively biased, but honest, comes from deep within.
6 - Potenza (av MMR rating 3580)
Starting lineup - iron survivor, tripin, rough, props, dare
Other alternatives - zizu, draft, warrior
Looks like Iron struggled with being last pick of draft as his team is arguable weakest, mainly with 4th-5th pick. Props, warrior, draft, zizu seem definitely weaker compared to who other teams can line up. On top of that they have rough, who can easily quit the team after first week as the guy only bothers playing with absolute top team. They certainly have loads of alternatives for those last spots, but none seem very convincing.
5 - Filthy (av MMR rating 3782)
Starting lineup - Mythril, bike, siaxis, absurd, tiny
Other alternatives - raazi, banks
Myth has been really dominant in recent leagues, but there are quite a few questionmarks about his team-mates. Absurd had pretty awful season in last draft league, bike and siaxis are not the most active players and may not show as consistently. Bike also has not played any MMR (unless there is some alias i dont know of).
There is loads of experience on this team, but i feel like unless majority of lineup gets superactive they will struggle.
4 - Punk (av MMR rating 3744)
Starting lineup - lockdown, turban, commodo, zapata, stayon
Other alternatives - jz, lee, spawnisen
Punk will be definitely one annoying team to fight against with several laggots on the same team. But there are also questionmarks. LD has to do the carrying, sometimes in leagues, it takes time for him to gear up. Turbans motivation and level in wb is questionable as he hasnt played a single mmr match. Stayon, zapata and commodo have definitely experience, but are not top-tier WBs in TW at the moment. So how this will turn out, time will tell. There is definitely potential in this team.
3 - Thunder (av MMR rating 3752)
Starting lineup - ease, beam, jurassic, riverside, spartan
Other alternatives - jessup, ogron, dwopple
Ease has picked team with loads of experience and quite a few alternatives as well in picking the line. Majority of team is active, there are dedicated wb players in it, only thing its lacking is perhaps are those crucial 9.5 - 10 star players that can decide games themselves. A few teams have more of those and i feel like when it comes to those deciders in playoffs, it could hurt. Otherwise formidable opponent for everyone.
2 - Lifeban (av MMR rating 4154)
Starting lineup - vys, dak, geio, jack, sarger
Other alternatives - zidane, spectacular, product
Vys has put together decent lineup with some nice sub options as well. Most of teammembers are fairly active and been putting in good performances in games. Sarger has really developed his wb game in recent year and now looks to be most in shape to secure that last 5th spot on freq. This team definitely has, what it takes for title challenge, with very experienced players involved. I feel like 3 teams this year stand out a bit and Lifeban is one of them.
1 - Nasty (av MMR rating 3869)
Starting lineup - racka, bombed, cripple, dreamwin, jamal
Other alternatives - hurricane, violence, temujin, ra, rampage
Strong lineup from Racka, who has been dominant in wb. Loads of options to rotate from as well and experience from vets. Perhaps wb is not the strongest ship for some of them, but game-brain plays also important part. It was very close for me to choose which team would be my favorite, but at this stage i feel like Rackas may be the strongest one.
