Well, I am happy to report that it was pretty much a problem free weekend as far as I can tell. Even with the late time alteration, Father’s Day and a very intriguing World Cup game falling right in the middle of the action, attendance wasn’t terrible! It could have been worse! I wasn’t able to watch all of the games due to having to host a basing game, cap a dueling game, and get ready to work a concert for old people (Seriously I didn’t see anyone under 45 and everyone ordered Manhattan’s and Martini’s. I felt like I was in Mad Men. Young people take shots of Patron, old people drink Tom Collins’. /rant), so I’m going to just do a straight recap this week with some line analysis and info I got from hosts.
Basing
First up was the match I hosted, Ez or Wut (15:00) vs. Ruby (3:38). Coming into the season (and after Free Agency), I thought Ruby would be a powerhouse in basing. And even with Draft’s concerns about his players not showing up, he still had an almost ideal lineup in (missing only perhaps anidalife or spezza <tw>), which certainly looked on paper better than Ez Or Wut’s did. However, Draft had to use several switches and he told me after the match that he just couldn’t find the right combination (of himself, Cape and Raples) for terr, special ship, and spider. In the end, Dreamwin’s Ez or Wut took home the dominating victory. Credit goes to Raspi for being a sick basebird (81-37, 4 TeKs), Zizzo for staying alive in Terr, reigning TWDT all-star shark a2m (paired with potential Rookie of the Year shark Tabarnak!!!), and Sakke in spider who put up a 3:1 (72-23, I’d call him a camper but his team dominated, so..).
In other action, my squad (Top5Squad) defeated Underground 15:00-9:00. Jaa was pming me throughout the match and I happened to be logging it, so I’ll share some of his thoughts without his permission: (jaa)>bfist wrecking, (jaa)>rasaq mvping, (jaa)>zung single handedly pushing them back, (jaa)>brookus wont die lol, (jaa)>zizu and brookus both 13-1, (jaa)>bfist frustrating the shit out of other team, (jaa)>bfist doin work. Jaa’s got a new mancrush, and it’s BrokenFist! (Sorry Dead_Rain, maybe if you showed up to the matches you wouldn’t have been replaced). Seems like a pretty hard fought match. I know top5squad was missing a few of our better sharks/spids (royst, zhou, oder, duel pasta), while Underground was missing a few too (Lionheart, violence, fit of rage, and their lag equializer in dald) . Props to B4sERmaN75_x and Riverside for stepping in and sharking well in the void. Arobas+ went negative in spider in the loss, but we’ll forgive him because he fixed the bots this week.
In the biggest blowout of the week Candy King (15:00) beat up Emofucks (2:17). I’m guessing Emofucks switched terr a few times (Lizard Fuel, Singer, and Stayon are all options), because the fewest deaths on the squad is 29, which would be ridiculous for just a terr… They’ll need WingZero to show and maybe a few others to help pH out if they want to be more competitive in this league. At the same time, Candy King has been many people’s favorites to win TWDT-B and they looked it here. Burnt died only once in terr, behind the wall of Vatican Assassin and Pinkstar. All the spiders put up decent numbers obviously, with the best ratio being Hurricane (60-25, he’s no Sakke). Spikey also reeled in 9 terrier kills in special ship (site says warbird but I’m not sure).
In the last match of the week, Blood Choke (15:00) pulled off a minor upset of Gypsy Humpers (6:21). Zyclon led all spiders in kills for the week (well tied with Zung, but in less minutes…in fact I believe NL>Trigger of EZ or Wut led all spiders in kills per minute at around 4.6), but Whimp had the best ratio on the squad (76-37). Of course, I don’t even have to go into Voth’s exploits due to the Big Llama’s flame piece on the forums. Cintra had a dominating performance as well (37-1, giving Tabarnak!!! a run for his money perhaps), with the most kills and best ratio in terr this week (37:1 is not bad. That’s like a specific number roulette payout). In opposite, Gypsy Humpers had a poor terr day (19 terr deaths, guessing it was Lz for the majority of play) and I’m assuming made a few switches of their own. They could have used Mikkiz or somebody to show up (along with Domi Cripple, Mess, and Paska of course, their highest rated basers). Speaking of the missing top men of Gypsy Humpers, they could have replaced Pjotter (45-53 5 TKs no TeKs as jav) and Sarrow (47-66 as spider) who did not have good days.
Qdoba’s Spicy New Jalapeno Cheese Dip Hot Player of the Week: Cintra - 37:1, good grief.
Honorable Mentions: Voth, Zung, BrokenFist, a2m, Raspi, Sakke, Hurricane, Burnt
Colon Blow’s Uh Oh Not (Again) Player of the Week: I’d like to give it to whoever played terr for Emofucks but I’m just not really sure who that was. So here’s to you Lizard Fuel/Singer/Stayon (the 3 clearly lowest deaths)
Dishonorable Mentions: Pjotter, Sarrow, Draft, Arobas+, Lz, and everyone who likes their Father more than TWDT.
