1. My view on what wins games is probably different from most people.
2. I didn't watch any games but the ones I played in. All of these takes are based on stats and my game knowledge.
3. This preview was written with the intention to create interest for the league. Its TW in 2019, we have to get excited about something.
Terrorist 11-15 Halo
Terrorist starts a challenging week three against Halo. It's never too early to look at playoffs; any victory against a potential basing contender matters a lot.
Major Crisis faces off against defending TWDTB champion terrier SpookedOne. Major has the potential, but I wouldn't count on him playing hard enough to make the difference.
Oder and Sprackle showed a potential weakness last week in Terrorist's 10:27-15 loss to Power. Will terrorist's sharks be able to protect their team from Halo's strong spider line while also keeping Jamal and Mr. Homo out of MC's face? It doesn't look too likely...
Halo, led by captain and top spider Cripple, looks to dominate flag room and kill count. Personally, I don't see how terrorist will manage. The X-factor will be TWDT (among other things) legend dreamwin. Just look at the statistics- Team terrorist with dreamwin is 2-0, the direct result of adding a 10* spider to cap off a rounded, 67* team. However, he will need to have a truly legendary game if terrorist is to overcome their obstacles at the other positions.
Criminal 1-15 Spider
A normal review of these teams would be a waste of time- it would take longer than the match itself will last. Plus, how do you review a team when they trade off their best players. Instead, I'd like to press F to pay respects to Zizzo, who it appears to be stuck on board the sinking ship that is afghan's basing squad.
Treyway 15-8 Pure Luck
Treyway exceeded my expectations in last weeks thrilling 15-14:40 win over team Spider. Last week, my predictions almost always fell with who had the spider advantage. Treyway proved me partially wrong, as solid cram work from hulk and morph, backed up by No-Longer-Worth-Ten-Stars porkjet in terr, and amazing performances from trapped (133-59) and wbm (126-81). I guess two can get the work done.
On to this week, Treyway faces a possibly reinvigorated (trades pending at time of writing) Pure Luck squad, who is looking to bounce back after a... uhh... rough week. Porkjet faces off against Captain Tiny. Terrier is where I was least sure of Treyway before, but with pork in the driver's seat, they look like a top contender. I always enjoy watching pork terr, and I don't think Tiny has the experience to pull off an upset. Maybe he could trade for Zizzo, too.
Repping for Treyway are hulk and morph, against Markmrw and paradise. While outwardly this seems skewed in Treyway's favor, Mark and para can both familiar with sharking at a top level. The shark battle will be closer than one might expect, though I anticipate Pure Luck to be repping defensively the whole game, and unable to create pressure on porkjet.
Both teams are prone to getting out killed. Who shows up for Pure Luck will make all the difference, as even the acquisition of Henry Saari leaves them a bit lacking for star basing talent. Treyway also lacks depth in spider, but makes up for it in their top few spiders. The only way Pure Luck can win this is with their top line showing, and maybe I'm just pessimistic, but I think Tiny will be left hanging again.
Demacia 15-8 Power
Power managed to exceed my expectations last week, as they nabbed a 15-10:27 win over early season favorite Terrorist. However, this team still faces weaknesses in spider- the cost of playing high star specials. Power does enjoy the luxury of being able to mix-and-match multiple possible lines, with players viable in multiple ships. On the Demacia side, newly acquired Poni enables a highly powered spider line, one that can create immense pressure on Zidane and friends.
For terriers, Power has the option of playing Heaven or Ogron. Heaven is a better value at terr, and placing Ogron in spider gives them a little more name recognition and respect there. Demacia is occasionally anchored by bitsaver. Finding other options might cost Demacia two matches this weekend.
In shark, we have WillBy and Poni squaring off against Zidane and bram/mcvicar. Personally, I think bram is the better choice. While he is a downgrade in either ship from mcvicar (no disrespect to bram), I think the spider help (if mcvicar shows) will provide leadership to a weak Power spider line. Zidane is a great shark, but Demacia has beaten great sharks before.
Demacia's spider line, after moving flex player Nipple Nibbler over, is looking like the most dangerous in the league. While there is room for improvement, this line outkilled a stacked Halo squad by over 100. While Power has proven no-slouch in spider (though their signature win is against a dreamwin-less terrorist), Demacia's line will prove too much to handle, and Power will fall by over 100 kills.
Terrorist 9-15 Spider
Commodo's squad looks to solidify themselves as the top TWDT squad by putting more games between them and the squads behind them. With only a 20 second loss to a scary Treyway, this star-studded line looks to steal the win and leave terrorist with just a broken dream.
Halo 15-4 Pure Luck
Halo has their way with Pure Luck, as cripple proves himself wrong- the trade wouldn't be unfair enough to improve Tiny's DTB chances.
Criminal 1-15 Power
Power shows why Paladen wasn't allowed to compete in TWLB this year. Shutouts aren't fun for anyone.
Treyway 13-15 Demacia
In a thrilling final match for this year, Treyway's lack of spider depth is apparent. While hulk makes it a game against his two partners from last season, the rest of the team, like the Oklahoma Sooners, comes up half a yard short (Go Cats!).
