With TWDT ending in 2 weeks I feel like now would be a good time to discuss what we all want to play as the next league. TWDT ended up being pretty competitive this season with 10 teams and to me it was a pretty promising template for what TWL could be if we choose to go that route. I'd really appreciate feedback from as many active players as possible and could definitely help run whatever league is the next one we end up deciding on

would like another league for basing... like basingcup but with 8 teams no star cap. TWDT has issues with star caps and twl turns into a stack with less teams then the zone can actually support because of it. Also is it a must that you are in the same squad for all 3 leagues or is it possible to keep them separate?

I see a lot of votes for TWL. Obviously this would be preferred, but two per year is questionable.

I've been trying to think of a way we can add competitiveness to TWD so that we can have a formal TWD offseason and let squads form without rushing another TWL. Maybe we can reinstate the value of TWD as a qualifier league in some way. That way we can allow squads to form organically during the offseason and build prior to the next TWL.

During this TWD offseason, I propose "Bridge League": A minileague built into TWD that serves as a bridge to TWL. TWD squads are given a 2-week signup period to participate. Given the fluid nature of TWD squad loyalty, signups should remain open throughout the regular "season" for squads to form and signup and play. Games would be played on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday nights. Bridge League would be a square-off of the TWD squads that are currently active in a more formal environment. If two teams challenge each other to a TWD match between 5pm and 1am EST on the active Bridge League nights, those games will count toward BL standings. Borrowing would be allowed, although since these would be "league" games there could be a requirement for a minimum number of squad members that would have to be online to play dueling (3) and base (5) games during active BL nights. If your team doesn't want to play active ladder games they can challenge other squads to unranked games (normal TWD games).

Bridge League would require a roster limit of 18-20, though current rosters wouldn't be asked to axe players. I'm confident that once more squads form people will leave the currently stacked squads and their rosters will naturally shrink. I'd aim for at least 12 TWD squads in every league. We can even attempt to identify captains as a community so that people are automatically incentivized to start a new squad. The league can end with a one day tournament or we can just call the winners of the ladder the winners of the league. Then, when it's over (maybe 2-3 months long), it'll be December/January and time for TWL 2021.

1v1/2v2 tournament/dueling league could also be hosted simultaneously.

Just thought of this on the spot so will edit my post as I think more about it. It's just an idea and I'm not even sure I'm for it yet. Trying to brainstorm since I don't think we should dive into TWL immediately after TWDT.

This is a good idea. Is your proposal a completely separate league outside of TWL or are you implying that it could contribute to TWL eligibility? I didn't think you meant the latter, plus I'm not sure making TWL more exclusive is a good idea but it was just a branching thought.

I'm a fan of this idea, obviously with a few kinks to be worked out. It would be a valuable addition to the game especially for players who enjoy playing with their friends on TWD rosters and still want to compete in some way, without it having to be TWL. TWD died when it became unnecessary to qualify for any leagues, or when another league is happening (like TWDT) so there isn't any real reason to play it. A resurrection of this would make the game a lot more addicting and give players a reason to log in on weekday nights to play games rather than just doing it without any good reason, or playing a couple matches and logging off for good.

I hope TWD ops (if there even are any at this point) pay attention to this thread and start working on ways to make TWD relevant again.

I support the above comments that everyone wants to play TWL soon but also agree that it should be the SECOND league. This TWDT has been a great success and we have the largest population of Sunday players in a long time. TWL needs a “bridge” league whether it’s literally the name thix said or some other established league to give time for twl squads to naturally form.

twl as the next league would be jumping the gun and not give enough time for a diverse and competitive league

I do think pressures league idea could work with a few adjustments but would need precision to execute

twdt could work for sure but I’m 50/50 on whether or not it would have the same outcome as the current twdt. I think it would need to be modified in some fashion such as being capless or other alteration

as mouse eluded to, you could have a basing cup league with an additional dueling league running simultaneously to foster activity across all leagues in preparation for twl

in conclusion, twl as the second league and any league as the next league

Multiple people throwing out ideas and making suggestions. If you like pressures idea, say so; if you think it needs adjustment, say what changes you would make. Most importantly though, if you want to see a league go after this, someone needs to step up and be a head op. You will have the support of prior league ops, other community members, and tw staff. But you have to step up!

I can't take lead on running a league unfortunately. Happy to help with ideas or in small practical ways, though, as always!

I nominate WillBy, Heaven, beam, Lockdown or a combination.

Thanks for bringing this up my man RacK.

Along with the next league to go on like TWL or TWDT, can we restart up the elim season/league? It was going good there for a bit but suddenly stopped. It was nice to have when the zone was too inactive for dueling/basing games. Please consider restarting the elim league fam! Much love. Thank you.

Agreed with Grasp on restarting the elim league. I like Pressure's idea, but tbh it looks like on the surface there's no way that will be ready 2 weeks from now from a dev perspective, and the next league needs to be announced no later than when TWDT is finished. I'd like to play TWL, but feel we need one more league buffer before that. I placed a vote for "Another league", but wouldn't be opposed to TWDT in a slightly different / shortened format? 8.5.1

Just wanted to add that I voted for TWL--I really like the idea that we might have a winter league as I stay indoors most of the winter (as am sure most do). Would rather do a league during winter than summer yet we do tons during the latter. So yea, very excited at potential winter league whatever it be

Whatever league it is, it needs a 180ms lag limit.
