  • TWDT-D QF & SF

It's been awhile since I last did a write, but in the wake of current events and all that, thought I'd give everyone a bit of added light reading.

    QUARTERFINALS
    Stray vs Spider
    1-2

GAME 2: (I wasn't around so can only base my judgment off final scoreboxes, thanks Wirah)
    Stray vs Spider
    34-50

The ending result due to not having to play a 6* has shown to be evident time and time again, dating back from Beast's choke in DT-D finals. Ancient Jebass got absolutely dismantled round 2, finding a sole r3 kill that was likely a lucky STRAY (haha). Crip didn't have much going for him either, as leader Dak led the spooders to outplay their opponents both short range and long, 33 to 19 kills and 10 to 6 kills respectively. Ease put in a great effort, but being the only + scorer at a +4 proved to be only a small plus in an otherwise gloomy round.

    Hot: Dak (14-4), Ease (14-10)

Not: Jebass (1-10) It's playoffs, so I decided not to say anything mean to the underperformers.

    GAME 3:
    Stray vs Spider

    45-50

To everyone's surprise in spectator chat, Jebass came out of the get-go poised to redeem himself from a poor performance round 1 leading the score for his team with a fiery 5 out of Stray's first 6 kills of the game. Paladen's OG has finally returned! Or not....Spider quickly brought him back down to earth as his hot streak came to a streaking halt with a 1-7 ending, courtesy of many blank drifting into bullets and Flew singling him out. Jurassic continued his strong play from round 1, showing exactly why he is one of the stronger 7* warbirds this day leading the way for his team alongside Dak. Shoutouts to Ease and Zap to make the ending of this round be a slight nailbiter, but playing the game to most of its entirety 4v5 proved a crutch too big to overcome. Questionable action by Zapata to bench his fellow 10* Mythril, as it is to be noted that one of the reasons Stray got this far in the warbird division in the first place. However, what's done is done so better luck next time.

    Hot: Dak (13-10)
    Not:

    Giants vs Treyway
    1-2

    GAME 2:
    Giants vs Treyway
    35-50

10th round 10* pick RaCka continued his strong play with a solid 3 KOs, leading the way for the Treyway squadron. Captain morph went for a very respectable round to provide good support for his top drafted warbird, while Lockdown had a fair outing so the Treyway core got the job done. And to give credit where credit is due, Treyway's low star Unlimited had the epitome performance of what a 6* needs to do, to stay alive but also provide some pressure wherever possible. Having maintained at 4 deaths for the good remainder of the game, good work . Having run the same 10-9-8-7-6 composition as Treyway, Giants found little success this round as turban was the only member that barely crested a positive score. Guess starting up 1-0 didn't make much of a difference.

    Hot: RaCka (15-7, 3 KOs), morph (12-9)
    Not: Mean Gene/RUCCI (5-10s)

    GAME 3:
    Giants vs Treyway
    45-50

As the best game of this season's quarterfinals, this round went down to the wire. Gene tried a lineup change to a 10-8-8-8-6 which worked for the most part as it made a much more competitive game. However, the big reason why (yes, I will tack the blame on you) Giants couldn't pull off the victory was a horrendous start by 2nd overall FA pick Jack starting 1-5, and substitute Steadman couldn't provide any offense either. Even though they didn't receive much help from the rest of the lineup, Giants' main core of Iron Survivor and turban recorded a walloping net 31 kills whilst on the opposing side RaCka, morph, and Lockdown continued their strong outings from Game 2. The round was neck to neck all the way to the 40s score, but Giants collapsed in spectacular fashion after RaCka netted the final kill on opposing 10* Iron. Did RUCCI shoot more than 5 shots in the remaining segment of the game?

Hot: Iron Survivor (16-10), turban (15-10), Lockdown (14-8), morph (13-10)
    Not: Jack/Steadman (combined 2-10)

          SEMIFINALS
          Treyway vs Power
          2-1

          GAME 1:
          Treyway vs Power
          50-38

Treyway struck first in this best-of-3 by capturing the lead from the very start thanks to a great 5-1 start by their 10* RaCka. Lockdown and morph also continued their strong outings as Treyway's core maintained their consistency of each netting a minimum of 10 kills. Unlimited also provided another satisfactory performance at the 6* position, as having a low star player getting above 6 kills is more than you could ask for. Opposing leader Shadowmere did what he could to keep pace with RaCka with a 6-2 start, but his teammates had less than ideal scorelines as Cloth could not get much going for him while Warrior caught fire way too late to make any impact (both were 3-8 at one point).TPZ did what he could, but with only 2 deaths could only do so much.

          Hot: RaCka (17-5, 3 KOs)
          Not: assembly (3-8)

          GAME 2:
          Treyway vs Power
          39-50

The previous loss surely did not faze Power's experienced captain, as Zidane made quite a lineup change by running more of a mid-heavy team in a 9-8-8-8-7 that included himself and veteran Creature. This strategy change proved to do the trick, as leader Shadowmere clearly wasn't going to let the series end in a 2-0 shutout. Paky Dude had a better outing than Game 1, and Creature got the job done after Shadow got eliminated. This time around, only Treyway's RaCka and Lockdown managed to log the minimum 10 kills, as captain morph had a sluggish start at 1-8. He managed to stay alive for an absurdly long time at 4-9 but the team couldn't push for a slight run to pull the game close. It has become a series!

          Hot: Shadowmere (15-10), Creature (12-5)
          Not: morph (4-10)

          GAME 3:
          Treyway vs Power
          50-39

In the critical deciding game, renzi finally made his impact not playing in the shadow of his team's top warbirds to be a big contributing factor in their victory. And by what RaCka is known for, Treyway absolutely shredded Power in close range by a comparatively 14 to 7 r1 kills and 22 to 17 r2 kills. This time around however, it was only Paky Dude and captain Zidane who managed to yield the satisfactory scores as they could not keep pace with their opponents. It was evident that Shadowmere had little in the tank left, as he was pegged with the highest deaths quite early on, and Ogron could not turn it around in the situation he was given. Congrats Treyway for moving on to the finals.

          Hot: morph/RaCka (13-9s), renzi (12-5)
          Not: Shadowmere (2-7)

            Terrorist vs Spider
            1-2

            GAME 1:
            Terrorist vs Spider
            48-50

The competition of this round of semis did not disappoint as this series started out with a bang. Spider came out of the gate and rushed to an early lead, courtesy of great starts by Jurassic and Flew, 8-2 and 9-4 respectively. Terrorist's top warbirds beam and saiyan did their best to carry their own weight and then some, but couldn't quite get the job done to nab the first game victory. Contrary to what Flew is known for, he and Dak led the way for Spider to make the key difference factor in their win in r3 kills, 19 to only 12 of Terrorist.

            Hot: beam (14-10), saiyan (13-10), Jurassic (13-9)
            Not: Kassius (3-10)

            GAME 2:
            Terrorist vs Spider
            50-44

The winningest DT captain dreamwin made a lineup change as Game 1 did not work out, and it clearly yielded them profit. bram turned it up a notch to become a demolition wrecking machine, finding numerous close range and long range kills with 2 r4 kills to boot. Paradise provided a much more ideal performance than Kassius Game 1, and captain dreamwin himself decided to step in when saiyan had a shaky outing. Although contrary to popular belief how maketso could perform well behind top-ranked warbirds, nowon stepped in to rescue him while logging a healthy 3 KOs. This time around only Dak and ro could provide any significant offense for the arachnids, as the rest of the team faltered.

            Hot: bram (16-10), ro (15-10), Dak (13-10)
            Not: Jurassic/POiD (4-10s), maketso (1-6)

            GAME 3:
            Terrorist vs Spider
            41-50

The strategy of inserting someone with a fresh mind has yielded benefits more often than not, and this time around it was captain Commodo who decided to make a change-up by slotting JAMAL for Flew. They clearly sealed the deal, as he and Jurassic logged all 5 KOs of Terrorist to seal the victory in an overall well-balanced effort. Dreamwin had an excellent round, but could find little assistance from the rest of his team as only beam managed to provide slight offense for an even scoreline. Para reverted back to his kamikaze self, and bram could not get many shots to fall. Congrats to Spider to face Treyway in the final.

            Hot: dreamwin (15-10), Jurassic (13-7), ro (12-8)
            Not: bram (3-10), POiD (4-9), Paradise (3-7)
