• Overachiever of the Week - Season 26, Week 7

This week featued very few truly competitive matches, so deserving overacheiever performances are relatively few and far between. Still, these two players both shined in their games, as their teams begin eyeing a playoff run. Our overachiever nominees are:

Steadman, who accomplished a 17-5 in warbird, including 3 KOs (in an admittedly uncompetitive match) as a 9 star (pre-tax). He did exactly what he as asked to as a high star, and more.

Jz in javelin with a 12-6 (14-6 if you count tks) as a 7 star. Low stars snagging kills and avoiding deaths is what leads to 50-34 stomps. His captain insisted I nominate our teammate, as this win keeps r1p1t1 within striking distance of first place.

Mouse went 8-10 in warbird as a 6.5 star. His high deaths indicate he bravely led his team into the fight, and his high % accuracy shows that he was careful with his shots and used each opportunity to secure a kill.

Did I miss anyone? Who do you think deserves some special commendation for their performance?

both games were stomps, so neither is a legit over-perform.

this week is basically a popularity contest.

I would suggest other ppl, but these were the only 2 games I saw, that's how I know they're bs.

These nominees are a complete joke lol.. If you can’t find any nominees for overachievers it’s probably best to just take a week off..

Steadman is a TWLD warbird and is rated a 9* in DT for a reason.. Crushing low stars when you’re rated that high is not an overachievement.. It means he can perform at a high level at any given time in DT.

Mouse would be a great nominee for the achievement because he’s played WB less than 5 times in 20 years and just put up 8 kills against beam in his own ship lol.. Sure they are struggling in WB but that doesn’t take away from the fact he almost never plays the ship.

I’ll vote for my boy Jz though from the 2 since it’s far more impressive to perform like that as a 7* in jav than it is as a 9* in warbird

Let’s give it up to my boy Mousey tho man!

I don't think you understand the purpose of the award then. It's recognition of great performances from unexpected sources. The nominees this week weren't as strong as some previous weeks, but gatekeeping Overachiever of the Week on the grounds that you aren't personally impressed with their scores is antithesis of the award. These two (three, including Mouse if I can edit him in) overachieved this week. Vote for whoever you think did best, or completely ignore this post if you aren't impressed with any of them.
I value feedback all feedback, so thanks for bringing up Mouse's performance.

What is difficult to understand from this award system? It’s designed for “LOW STAR” players.. 9* is NOT a low star or “overachieving”

I’m not Gatekeeping anything… If by gatekeeping you mean responding to a public thread then I guess.. I’m just speaking on Steadman who was once a 9.5 warbird’ performance. He is “expected” to perform at a high level if hes rated a 9* and he tends to have big games in LD from time to time so nothing to see here..

If I’m playing with a player that’s a 9* warbird I expect them to perform at a high level and take over games, its obviously going to happen more times than you think..

That’s like giving Tripin who is a 9* wb or FLEW the overachievement award because they dropped 17.. They all play the same amount of games when they’re all active.. Confusing

Also, if the performances were weak he still shouldn’t be nominated.. This award from my understanding is for low star players..

Anyways, just pointing that out, I appreciate that you enjoy the feedback, but had to point that out..

Only 9.5 with tax. And yeah, 9* is high but so is 17-5, the highest kill count of the week (besides 10* dw jav with 18). So I'd still classify that as over performing, at least when you benchmark him against other 9*s.

Bro, I don’t know how it works in the basing world but this shit is so fucking cringe to read… Did you really just say that 17-5 as a 9.5 (He was once a 9.5 idc about the tax) is high??? What do you expect 9.5 players to do? Underperform?

HOW IS THAT OVERPERFORMING IF THIS ENTIRE SYSTEM WAS MADE FOR LOW STAR PLAYERS???!!!!!

Not only that but you couldn’t find any low star players that performed over their star value you had to look at dreamwin who’s maxed out at his star rating at 10 and dropped 18!???? As a 10?? A fucking 10? Lol …You gotta be fucking trolling.. what do you expect out of 10 star players?? To drop 6-10?

If a 10* player drops 30 kills that is still NOT considered overachieving. Let me tell you that. This is a system designed for “NEW PLAYERS” and since we don’t have that we have to credit it it to low star players..

I’m so confused, I will never speak on this trash again if people who are running it don’t even understand how this works..

It's not made for low star players, really not sure where you're getting that from. Kind of annoying that we have to have this conversation every week. Of course high stars can overachieve. 17-5 is great, at least compared to, idk, 8-9.
It's sad we've made it all the way to week 7 and just now you've decided to stop engaging on here, but at least week 8 will be peaceful. Moving forward please don't look at this thread- it's clearly negatively affecting your headspace for no good reason, that's not healthy.

well, that was the stated intent the previous season.
As previously stated last week this award is geared towards lower star players performing above their current star value. After looking through all the box scores this week these are the players who had stand out performances.

I was not involved that season, leaving that a bit of an outlier. High stars have consistently been nominated and won this award. In fact, (to my knowledge) this was the origination of the Overachiever award.

I'd have loved to see more low star player pop off. When that happens, they get all of the nominations. Steadman's league-leading 17-5 is playing above his rating (no other player, high or low rated, reached that many kills in warbird).

If you're not as impressed as I am, I welcome you to vote for either of the other two candidates. Alternatively, as I noted in the top post, let me know if I missed anyone. I'm all here for constructive criticism, but rocking out with your caps lock out, screaming about new players in season 26 of this league, and saying it's not worth pointing out an impressive score looks a lot more like tearing down than building up.
