End of year is closing and draft league has finally had its finals with 3 different winners in wb, jav and base claiming their throne. Time to reflect on this great season and give out some well deserved awards:
[COLOR=#e67e22][B]Best GM - Ogron[/B] [/COLOR]
Getting into finals in all 3 is great achievement and can be only done via smart drafting, thinking of all possibilities, reinforcing in FA draft and thinking about trade opportunities. Ogron stuck with his original plans in keeping his duelling teams based on strong vet core with 8-9* ratings and compensating on his high rating in terrier with fielding lower vps in sharks and building a strong spider lineup for base. In the end Nightmare and kobe with their high stars managed to dominate the finals, but in base, his plan worked and Gryffindor celebrated well deserved win.
[COLOR=#e67e22][B]Best wb - Mythril [/B][/COLOR]
Mythril was heart and soul of Nightmares all conquering wb lineup. Accompanied with definitely strong and somewhat underrated team, he was the leader, who brought the experience and aggression needed at crucial times and didnt really have a bad game entire season. He also tops the wb personal ratings with a comfortable lead ahead of others.
[COLOR=#e67e22][B]Best jav - Best[/B][/COLOR]
Best perhaps did not have as dominating season as Mythril in wb, but he really pulled out the big guns when it mattered most. It was always going to be either best or zidane, but being on Kobe, i felt like best had a bit better season, but in reality that duo was what brought Kobe their jav win.
[COLOR=#e67e22][B]Best terrier - Ogron[/B][/COLOR]
Ogron perhaps didnt have his best season, being sometimes overaggressive and sometimes making not optimal moves, but considering circumstances having to face teams that always had lower rated terrier (which means higher rated rest of team), he still managed to bring the goods and take the win.
[COLOR=#e67e22][B]Best shark - omega red[/B][/COLOR]
Have to say, this is very difficult category to rate. Base was more down to spider battles and terriers staying alive and many top sharks were eliminated already before playoffs. So i will go with team that won and best shark from Gryffindor was omega red. Being always partnered by lower star shark, he did his job great, had some nice pushes accompanied with his lag and was definitely worth his value.
[COLOR=#e67e22][B]Best spider - renzi[/B][/COLOR]
3 spiders stood out this year, renzi, absurd and cripple. Renzi and absurd had really great seasons and were one of the key reasons for Gryffindors win. In the end my choice went to renzi for some great plays in the crucial games in base finals.
[COLOR=#e67e22][B]Best low vp player - kassius[/B][/COLOR]
In all honesty, he should have been rated higher, but guy was completely unstoppable in both base and wb as 7*. MVPing in semis and finals as low star is not something that happens too often.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank also hosts of this tournament. I still stick to my belief that it was too long and having 2 leagues run simultaneously was fun in group stages, but dragged the league too long for playoffs. If you add the thanksgiving breaks, waiting for 2-3 weeks for a game is just too much.
