What's so funny about it? I had a change in circumstance. I wasn't going to play so that I could focus on my new job (which was supposed to have already started). However, it's been delayed and I still don't yet have my start date. You think I intended to screw around and play with a 0.5 tax which likely precludes me from even playing a majority of the games I can actually show for?

The FA draft will take place on February 20th, 2022 at 1:00PM ET, 1 hour before the Week 3 games begin.

FA Players are immediately eligible to play all Week 3 games after being drafted.

12:00PM ET: FA Draft Signups are locked. Players can no longer signup for TWDT.
1:00PM ET: FA Draft
2:00PM ET: Week 3 Games Start

i will say, for example, i asked ease blatantly before the draft is he was going to sign up for the draft. he said: no. i also asked if he was going to sign up for FA draft and he said: no. that doesnt indicate anything nefarious, its just funny.

I personally do not like the whole free agency system. It should probably be scrapped or completely reworked. I suppose the old system with bidding could work with some tweaks such as ratings of free agency players being at default value (rated by a small committee) and once they are bid for a certain amount then you would add a small tax (0.5) to their ratings.

This would mean lower rated players would not get shafted by an added tax where as top players, who tend to break team balance, would be less powerful.

Just food for thought, idk.

i think its scrappable in the future as well, but certainly not this season. while FA may help a couple people that didnt know the league was going on from teh start, the majority of them are just people that decided after the draft to play. or... even worse, people that decided before the draft to play but specifically wanted to wait until FA. IMO the people that always assumed they would play but just didnt want to be drafted shouldnt be catered to at all. there is obviously no way to prove this.

and no, racka, definitely wouldn’t be trying to discuss getting rid of it for this current season. Too late for that lol

Idk man I enjoyed seeing temu go wild in the finals and tanzu shit talk his way to victory n glory like its 2005 (sup teamm8).

It looks like ppl sign up regardless of what tax is imposed- causes its a helpful rule for 8-10 people (5-6% of the league population) every season depending on the size of the league. Thats a gr8 way to promote coming back to the game, participation / activity (we're not a large community, it adds up imo).

The number of players that Racka (better as OP than cap haha lol), beam and ogron, along with other volunteers like Sprackle (hufflepuff3000), Wirah, Dwop, Heaven, etc. and the donations of Wirah (guys name is everywhere) & Dad (hedcase8 showing his SFE self, class fking act) was impressive, and is appreciated as a participant of the league, fwiw.

Its nice to have people who haven't played in a while be able to sign up to a league that is currently one of the more competitive and inclusive ones the zones has to offer.

Ive been afk for a couple years in the past and signed up to play in free agency.

I personally dislike the idea of scratching FA because it isn't working. I think it does a good job of bringing back players who haven't played in a minute (thats HYPE). We see 5-10 familiar names return each year- regardless of the tax punishment.

I like the idea of having the 1 week wait rule return. Or adding something else to make it more fair.

Maybe a lottery of the worst x teams, lottery for the mid tier teams, and lottery for the top teams. Id also consider making the draft order lottery on the same day as the draft itself regardless.

Captains are meant to be gaming the game, not the system, imo. Having a 15 minutes to decide who to choose out of 10 players is enough time imo. It may allow for less interference in terms of signing players up to manipulate the draft order.

I will say: for all the strays viop is catching (ur risilitin is shit), he is single handedly responsible for helping to bring people from hockey zone to tw (and back), both in terms of recruitment and how to play. So its not like it's been negatives there.

Why not just get rid of FA all together? Isn’t it basically just an extended sign up deadline? I think there was over a month or so to sign up for this. Just take the sign ups and cut it off there. Literally no excuse to decide to sign up that late unless you’ve had literally no interaction with the game or site in months. Literally.

I mean this will at least give us some sort of feedback for future seasons... It would be unfair to remove it completely at this point. If it doesn't work out that well I think removing it completely would be the next logical step
