Just a few more days and our autumn TWDT season is officially starting. Our caps have made the picks, time to check who made the best choices (by order of draft). Here is how wb teams are looking:
Stray (7/10)
One of the 2 rookie caps this season Zapata went for rather balanced mid-tier squad. With himself being mainly a wb, this makes sense. He has only 1 player above 8.5, but he can also make a freq consisting of noone below 8. So far his lineup looks like to be
zapata 8.5
rasaq 9
commodo 8
sarger 8
banzi 8.5
But with that comes also some issues. Sarger and rasaq are both recently upgraded players, who in previous leagues played as 8.5 and 7.5. For Commodo, he has barely featured in wb for last 4-5 seasons and when he has, results have not been good. Being his weakest ship, one may even ask question why he is still an 8. There are also no higher rated subs, as best bet is probably HellzNo! at 7.5. So Zapata really needs to hope for all the key players showing for every game and playing at times above their level.
Terrorist (7/10)
Dreamwin went for one of the 3 available 10* wbs right away securing Lockdown. LD usually takes some time to get back to shape and has not had that much lock in draft leagues in recent times, with his last win coming back way in 2019, when he was still rated 9*. Lets see if he has better luck this time. He is backed up by always solid violence, hurricane and dreamwin himself (all 8*), but there are questions on who should be the 5th player on freq.
dreamwin 8
lockdown 10
hurricane 8
violence 8
?
If we look purely at rating, it should be 10th round pick Elven. When it comes to old players returning there are pretty much 2 ways how it goes. They play way better than anyone expected, but there is also more likely version of very low showup rates. So most likely 5th pick will be zizzo (7.5). There is also chance to use uprise (7.5), but he is not really active as well in recent times. So in similar ways to Stray, dws squad will most likely have to resort in playing some lower rated players here and there.
Power (10/10)
Zidane didnt dissapoint in draft. He opted to have both safe version with active players out there, but also possibility of beam turning active and putting up a show. Looks like one of the early contenders on paper for me:
Iron Survivor 10
raazi 8.5
zizu/zidane/jack 8
beam 9
lee 6.5
There are also possibilities in bringing in some 7* players like skatarius, draft or jb-inc and 2 8*, or if beam is not showing play genx (7.5) with 2 8*. In any case many options available and very strong wb team.
Bunnies (10/10)
Similar to Power, Spartan has pulled also a very solid wb roster with many potential lineups, so they are pretty secure even if some people dont play. Dak and Rough can form backbone of the team with autopilot and hulk both being also excellent in this ship. There are also number of low star players, who actually are wbs, which is always an advantage
dak 9.5
rough 9
autopilot 8.5
hulk 8.5
ixador/groan 6.5
Its also possible to switch things around, so spartan can play himself (8*) together with 7* player like mvp or pawner. There is also sprackle 9* on this team, who apparently though is not likely to show for main season games, but can be crucial in playoffs, which this team is likely to reach.
Pure Luck (8/10)
Tiny didnt really focus on wb choices until late in 4th round, but then went for 2 picks in a row with siaxis and creature. Creature showup rate will be a mystery, but he is definitely needed on this team, or else they are not looking that strong.
tiny 8.5
creature 9
siaxis 9
ardour 8
hellkite/dwopple 7.5
If creature shows, all is good and that freq looks really solid, if he does not though, the max vp they can reach is 40.5, which compared to some other teams is really low. So time will tell if Tiny can pull some nice trades to make his wb choices more solid, or they will purely depend on 1 person showing up or not.
Ethereal (8/10)
Another rookie cap this season Ekko has put alot of faith in vys showing, although he promised to not prioritize this league, lets see how it goes and how much his 10* wb can help him with this league. Ekko also has some issues fitting all his best players on freq as for some reason he failed to draft a single 7* wb, who would make him able to play all his best players.
vys 10
jz 8.5
clark kentaro 8.5
cape/banks 8
ekko 7.5
So there is really no possible way to fit 42*. At the same time if vys does not show, the max this team can fit is 41. Its okey looking team, but nothing shiny and some math issues for ekko to be solved in trading.
Prime (10/10)
Racka and Mythril have been really dominating wbs in recent seasons and I expect nothing else from this team. Racka has drafted smartly, he has plenty of experience and also options to rotate his team according to needs.
Racka 10
cripple 8.5
renzi 8.5
riverside 8.5
joeses 6.5
As renzi and river are players who are also known to have bad days, there are plenty of options to switch them and joe for 8* (spawnisen, delectable) /7*(beast, crazy canockout, pean) combinations. So very strong team with plenty of bench options.
Cloud (10/10)
Mythril has won 2 last twdtds being also standout performer in both, so whatever team he is on, has to be considered a favorite. Being lucked out with last draft pick, he managed to pick very good looking team.
mythril 10
absurd 8.5
geio 8.5
stayon/paky 8
tpz/rylo/coupe 7
So alltogether is see 4 strong teams and 4 weaker teams. Time to prove me wrong.
