TWDT-D semifinal predictions
And then, there were only 4. After very one-sided quarterfinals, with both games ending 2-0, we are now down to 4 teams to fight for that precious spot in finals. Let's see how the semifinals may turn out.
Btw looking at my prediction thread, 3 out of 4 teams i rated 10 are in the semifinals, with only Bunnies missing out, which of course is due to their nr.1 pick never bothering to show for league. Ethereal rated 8 at the same time, got massive boost in FA trade, by getting jurassic:
Ethereal vs Prime
After witnessing both Power and Cloud dominating their quarterfinal opposition, Ekko went and surprised everyone by picking nr.2 ranked Prime as their opponent. Going to final week undefeated, Ethereal witnessed 2 losses, while Prime had no-show win vs Bunnies and easy win vs the second worst wb team terrorist, so it is really difficult to see what kind of state both teams are at the moment. Sometimes, having a bye week is actually a bad thing, your opponents have 2 more games, which means 2 more practice rounds for them, while your team has been idle for a while. It has happened more often than not, that teams, who have had to fight through quarterfinals, also in the end make it to finals. Prime also of course lost 2 main season matches vs Ethereal, making Ekkos choice logical. First one is memorable due to nbside domus amazing sub, going 9-4 and pulling one the best low-vp wb performance of this league, second one for Pean going 0-10 for Prime, giving the worst performance of the season.
Ethereal team backbone lies in best wb of the season vys, supported by probably the most impactful FA pick Jurassic. They have been on fire this season, currently ranked top 2 pilots with KPD for entire league. Alongside those 2, jz, ekko, dare and banks have pulled very solid performances in mid-tier, with nbside domu, yeh and omega red being clearly underrated low star players. So this is a very strong team, with low stars who can stay alive, top-players having a field day out there and mid-tier giving necessary support.
Prime has had its ups and downs during season. I believe they rely alot more on specific players to have a good day and there is not that much options on bench, unlike Ethereal. Lead by racka and supported by 3 of mid-tier cripple, riverside, renzi and spawnisen, one the most important players has to be beast, currently rated best 7* player in league. With impressive 1.34 KPD as a 7*, beast seems clearly underrated for this league, and Prime is much better team, with him in lineup compared to any other option. He has missed quite a few games this season, lets see if he shows up for semis.
Prediction: Ethereal beats Prime 2-1
Power vs Cloud
Both teams have had very up and down seasons. In the end both actually went negative, getting only 6 wins out of 14 games. But none of that matters, as quarterfinals started showing the massive potential that both teams have, making Ethereal in the end not choosing either as their semifinal opponent.
Their main season matches were both very close, with Cloud winning first one in week 3, while power getting revenge on last week of main season.
Power has only had, what they can call their best lineup, for last part of season, with various people missing large parts of it. Lead by iron survivor, supported by beam, who is having a wonderful season and raazi, power is really one of the few teams that can rely on 3 wb-specialists. Zizu provides excellent aim and survival skills, with lee as low star completing the lineup. Being on power, i know wb has been our weakness, but recent weeks, we have sort of clicked and learned how to play with each other. Last main season week win vs cloud shows we know how to beat them.
Cloud is most probably team most reliant on one player, but that player can be that damn good, especially in playoffs, that finding ways how to stop him, will be key in this match. Mythril went crazy 33-11 score in quarterfinals, none of his teammates managed to get more than 10 kills in either game, but cloud still won both games vs Pure Luck comfortably. Mythrill, who always seems to turn up his game in playoffs, has won last 2 twdts, so i feel like Cloud should be considered a favorite in this game. Supported by geio, paky dude, stayon and mikkiz, none of them have really stood out, but it is difficult with such a team-mate. So teams are setup in a different way, alot depends on Powers ability to control Mythril and staying alive for late part of game in hopes of having numerical advantage over Cloud.
