Anyone know of any new free online or singleplayer games that have emerged since the last time a thread like this was created? Or maybe some that just haven't been mentioned?

Theres a standalone multiplayer Quake II mod called 'D-Day: Normandy'. Last time I tried it, about a year ago it was quite popular, a good amount of players in the servers: http://www.fileplanet.com/files/110000/118570.shtml
Another multiplayer Quake II standalone mod called 'Digital Paint: Paintball 2': can be downloaded here: http://dynamic5.gamespy.com/~digitalpaint/news.pl - Havent actually tried this one but am currently downloading it.
Now for a singleplayer/multiplayer Quake II standalone mod theres 'Code Red', I downloaded it a while back but didn't thin much of it- not many players on the servers but the bots can be quite good: http://www.gamershell.com/download_1448.shtml

The demo is unlimited time, it's a multiplayer RPG/FPS.
It's actually quite a good game, to be honest. If you read the faq,
you'll see the saga that is that game, and how the developers got screwed in the ass by their Publisher, and so now in an effort to still make money on their work, and fuck the Publisher back, at the same time, even to buy the game, is just 15 dollars. The RPG bit is that you gain experience for several things in playing online, and you can use that xp in order to upgrade your character, or.. you can just FPS is, and get an instant character that starts at like level 11, but never gains XP. It's quite well done, the developers listen and include in the update patches what the players want. All that for 15 bucks. The way games were meant to be. Still though you could download it, and just play the 2 free classes, if you want."Sexy" Steve Mijalis-Gilster, IVX
