Half Life sure as hell deserves a spot on the list of the greatest games of all time. It's a fucking dynasty. The original single player was insanely sweet. The original multiplayer was kickass. The neverending mods, oh hell yes. Counter-Strike and DoD alone have a ridiculously large player base. The size of the community is out of this world. What's not to like about it?

Greatest Multiplayer game

I wasted 6 years of this game on my life Id never had so much fun and intereaction ever in a game. The Team Fortress Mod was the greatest mod ever I remember the 2nd year we had a Euro vs North America TF Tourney hosted on heat.net. It was probaly the most fun Id ever had too bad we lost in the end to England. And the good thing about that game is lag is bad. That was the time when 56k costed money every month and you were running off a bunch of internet companys. Good times indeed. I still play quake 1 today with my friends that moved we just jump on Aol instant messanger and use their game servers to play a game. Even though the game is anciently old will always be the best FPS in my book.
