OK, before anyone starts having a go at me for dissing their religion, remember I am a Roman Catholic and have strong beliefs in the church. So fuck you.

My friends are assholes too, they get money at things like this. Wow, you just renewed your baptismal vows, you should be happy enough for yourself and not be exploitative of the celebration. Christmas is different, we give gifts as it symbolises the magi giving gold, francincense and myrrh to Jesus.

Having said that, I wouldnt mind a bit of cash at Catholic celebrations

Well I got money because two years of 2 and a half hour classes every Wednesday, where you sit and take notes the whole time, and then a six page front and back twice a year (about 200 questions), a public examination where you get asked every question on that test and more, memorization of a ton of verses and the Small Catechism with the explanations is not that easy to do. I got a book from a family friend whos heavily involved with the church..and to be confirmed in my faith you only need the...9th grade year of confirmation classes(twice a week)..then you had to memorize things...and talk about things(7-9 rooms with oral quizzes) one would be memorazation of old testament....one for the new...one for the major hyms...etc..we are such a laid back religion >.>

Once you're confirmed you're considered an adult in the Catholic church. You make your own decisions regarding your faith. It's a beautiful thing.

It's all about how much you put into it. I KNEW it wasn't going to be exciting, or anything I wouldn't go to if it was up to me, but when I went through it, I used it to really question what my religion and my faith. I saw some people go through it with their head down and just sitting there not participating in discussions and such, and do you know what they got out of it? Nothing. Are they bad people because of it? No. Did they waste hours of time because they decided to do nothing with this opportunity? Yes.

It was an opportunity for me to realize how much I didn't like my particular religion more than anything.
