I'm employed by a govrrnmental agency that during worktime I'm required to be 'hooah' or something of the sort described in my MOS 19D...At the moment my duties require me to be in Iraq, my job entails a few things actually..1.Being attached to different units as an asset such as working with artillery, infantry, special operations, intelligence or support, 2.Working as personal security detail/driver for various figures(civilian and military), 3.Staying within my own platoon for various counter-terror operations in various towns.

In summary, I wish I had chosen a paperpusher job or something else, mine is too much stress for not much pay($2,600/month). Normally back in garrison I'd make less(about $1,500/month), downrange we get payed for hazardous duty, no taxes, hardship/hostile fire pay, so it adds up icely for some decent wages.

Oh I wish, how I wish I can someday be a civilian again =/

I finished my first year at York University in Toronto. I am working on my fine arts degree with honours in music. I think I have it a little better than most people because I know what I want to do with my life and have known since about grade 10-11. If you are interested, it is to become a music teacher for high school kids.

Music is my passion in life so I greatly enjoy the program that I am studying.

Hey, a fellow York Dork! I just graduated last year. If you want to get your teaching degree from York too, let me know. I know who you should talk to for guidance.

Take the north elevators of the Ross building to the eighth floor. Make sure you don't take the south ones by mistake, they'll still get you there, but the north ones are closer to where you want to go. The 8th floor is all for the Faculty of Ed anyway, so don't worry about getting lost. After you exit the elevator, you should be in a hallway. To the right is an alcove that leads to the stairwell. You'll know it because it's the nearest window you'll see. Opposite the stairwell is a little office where you'll find the Faculty of Education Students Association (FESA). The people there should be able to help you. If you want some advice from the faculty itself, you'll want the pre-service office which is behind the glass doors near the south elevator, also on the eighth floor.

The pre-service office will have the documents you need to apply (it's too late to apply to get in for next semester) but they usually won't be of as much help to you as the folks at FESA. They should still be open for the summer though. The FESA office should be closed now though, as it's run by fellow students and they're all either done for the summer or on their teaching blocks now, but come September it will be full of people who are there to answer questions from the students' POV.

For more information, the faculty website is http://www.edu.yorku.ca/. If you want to get a head start for applying, I suggest going back to your old high school and ask some of your favourite teachers for a reference letters and consider doing some volunteer work with students. That will help you on your application next year.
