I guess it all just comes down to musical opinion. Punk Rock you are right that way more people like billy talent, but that is because they are mainstream (I actually got their demo cd way before they started getting aired on muchmusic and stuff). While Boys Night Out are basically unknown, they don't even have a single.

And for my musical taste, I would prefer listening to BNO than billy talent anyday. BNO has the perfect mix of screaming and singing, sometimes with the whole band going at once (that kickass little interlude part from "i got punched in the nose for sticking my face in other peoples business"), Billy Talent has like no screaming and just one singer with an extremely annoying voice. BNO has 2 guitarists, I think they combine the two guitars very well and make guitar parts ranging from little acoutic-type riffs, to fast paced energetic pop punk riffs, to those crazy hardcore breakdowns. Billy Talent has 1 guitarist, I think he is a great guitarist, and lots of his licks are pretty cool (thats how they remind me of ATDI), but in my opinion if you have only 1 guitar then you are missing out on so much. And then there is the fact that Billy Talent is quite popular and overplayed on music stations. Not that that is really bad, but i guess i just have a natural bias against "popular" music. Thats why I'm still crossing my fingers that thursday doesn't become completely mainstream. I cringe at the thought of 13 year old girls that wear 50 cent brand shirts that would hear thursday and then like them because they are the new cool thing. I'm also biased because BNO are a well respected band in the Ottawa scene these days, while Billy Talent has some of those girls i just mentioned going to their shows.

Meh I guess thats why I prefer BNO over billy talent, I'm not saying any of you guys that like Billy Talent are wrong or anything. It all just comes down to musical taste and personal opinion. But one thing I think we can all agree on: At least bands like these are all way better than any popular rap music today. And I'm glad were discussing two good punk-emo bands, instead of fitties new clothing line of something.

Musicians today are dumb fucks thats why you dont feel the lyrics a true poet should make the music better an example of a retard is Fred Durst (although i like limp bizkit :eek: ) fred writes the dumbest lyrics especially off thier new one i mean go to a english class pick up a thesaurus or something instead of saying Baby ten million times.All along the watchtower played by hendrix what a team Dylan wrote the lyrics and Hendrix wrote the music greatest cover of all time- now thats how it should be done, manson is pretty descriptive with his lyrics (except his new one which i dont know what the fuck he is talking about but music is still good), danzig lyrics are seriously worth studying in english classes you guys think of some others.

At least from my experience, Thursday is more mainstream than Billy Talent. Why you ask? Take my ghetto-wannabe younger brother. The kid will rap 50 cent then start talking to me about how great Thursday is.

Ooh that must be it. Billy Talent is played like nonstop on muchmusic (canada's equivalent to mtv), and I think i've only seen thursday being played once on much. The only place I ever see any good music played (finch, thursday, tbs, thrice, etc) is on the shows 123 punk, or insomniaques attaques on canadas french music station, musiqueplus. In Canada Billy Talent is like the next Backstreet Boys.

Metallica is pretty ordinary the only one i have found that has used awesome imagery, lyrical and narrative techniques is For Whom The Bell Tolls. Yea no doubt pink floyd has great lyrics that match the music really well.

Wtf with Billy Talent the next Backstreet Boys.. and btw.. im proud to be french.. 123 Punk and insomniaques kick ass and BIG D are on a tour (Ska is Dead) since like 2 month and for another 2 month again.. they played at montreal 1 month ago and will play again in june.. YAHHHH
