Basically, I thought the movie sucked. I went with my boyfriend (and yes, I was paying attention to most of it) and I just don't like the directing, which was no better than I would expect from a guy who's only done two movies, a little kids one and a porn movie.

Well there were so many things that just went too far from the book. I mean, normally this is ok, like the LOTR movies, but geez, this was just too much! so much stuff was different, like the Whomping Willow, and I guess the director didn't even bother to have Daniel (Harry) wear the green contacts considering his eyes were blue the whole movie (I commented how pretty his eyes were to my boyfriend, then 20 minutes later I realized his eyes should be green). The movie also moved so fast. They took the longest book so far, and made it into the shortest movie, which really didn't make much sense. So much stuff was out of order, and some stuff he did might totally mess up the plots for other movies. For example, the Patronus charms, instead of having them be like smoke and taking the shape of an animal, they were just like forcefields. This might pose a problem in the 5th movie, because how will Harry encourage a forcefield to chase another dementor away? They also totally lost focus of Malfoy in the movie, I really wanted to see the Quidditch match when he knocked out Malfoy dressed as a dementor - speaking of which - I thought the demetors glided above the ground, but didn't nessicarily fly like the did in the movie. The dementors reminded me of the tooth fairy in Darkness Falls. And did Harry stop playing Quidditch or what? He left out the whole fight with Hermoine after he gets his Firebolt, which sort of sets a precedent, and he didn't get it until the end. So what, did he just stop playing Quidditch altogether? I also thought the ending sucked; blurry freeze-frames never work.

Just my opinion, but I thought the first two were a lot better. I liked the first one the best in fact, and it's also my favorite book (who knows why). But I'm really glad this director isn't doing the fourth movie, because that movie really needs to be good and stay to the book! That's why LOTR was such a huge success - they stayed to the book, even though it was long. I would rather go to a long movie that is true to the story, than a short one that moves way to fast and messes up the plot.

I liked the movie, it was a better movie than the first two as far as movies good (better directed), but it was missing what I loved most about Harry Potter which is the school stuff. There was virtually no school stuff (i.e. points, end of year celebration, halloween, christmas, quiddich) in this one, it was all just the other plot which was a letdown for me

I've read the book, but my sister told me that the movie blows major ass. I'm still gonna watch it when it comes out in Hong kong. Maybe if I go into the movie with little to no expectations, it'll be acceptable.
