  • Favorite Classical (Orchestral) Piece

I'm not asking if you like or hate this music, but do you have a favorite piece that you can listen to, even if Classical music is a big dislike of yours? I know I have quite a few albums, but lately my favorite has been:

    Faure - Pavane Op. 50

Very beautiful flute and oboe solos, and and a wonderful cello solo near the end.

don't even get me started on classical music i haven't listened to much since highschool but i enjoyed Scarlotti, good ol' bach and some braums (sp? i think there's an H in there somewhere) .

i have several CD's with different pieces on them thought i don't listen to them much.
There once was a man from Nantucket.

Classical is weak, modern orchestral is much more better wit' the introduction of auxilary and percussion instruments. Oh and don't forget American jazz!

P.S. MY FAVORITE PIECE IS AN AMERICAN IN PARIS by GEORGE GERSHWIN (AMERICAN COMPOSER)

Oh yeah Pachelbel's Canon in D is one of the greats even compared to today’s standard.

But I would say... Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony (4th Movement in particular, aka “Ode to Joy”), powerful stuff!
And since it’s hard to pick just one, runner-up is Wim Mertens’ Close Cover. Which may sound familiar to trance fiends; dulcet to the perfect power.

There are tons more great orchestral pieces out there, and since there’s such a huge time window to look through it seems endless!

But I find it strange how the majority of trance listeners are also into classical, but then again it makes the most sense. There are also a hell of a lot of classical pieces reworked into trance, in a good way I might add...
And then we look at the mainstreamers and others and how they are fixated on the top40 shitlist, meh... have mercy on them, for they will never experience the purest of pure or the truest of true.
hey I'm Paddy Tanniger the caddie manager yeah it rhymes big whoop wanna fiight about it??

Sarasate's Zigeunerweisen (Gypsy Airs). Back in 11th grade I performed this piece in its entirety in a recital. Its was some hardcore shit for the violin.

                            Ysayes solo violin sonatas

Heres a link to a download page for the 3rd Sonata.

Listen to Maxim Vengerov - Ysaye - Sonata in D minor "Ballade"... its better than the other one.

There are a total of 6 and theyre loosely modeled after the bach solo sonatas

Because I'm a pianist I'm a little biased and I like Beethoven's piano solos, Moonlight Sonata and Fur Elise inparticularly although Ode to Joy is also a fantastic piece.

March to the Scaffold is also a favourite of mine especially when you know the story behind the piece and can picture it with the music.
