Does anyone know of any Bluetooth-enabled speakers, or, even better, an adapter that would let any speakers work via Bluetooth?

My uncle has wireless speakers for his TV, don't know if they are bluetooth though. Really handy because you don't have to pull any of those ugly wires for the rear speakers.5: Da1andonly> !ban epinephrine

I just got a 12-inch Powerbook G4, and the built-in speakers obviously suck. I'd get regular speakers to leave on my desk, but it sort of defeats the purpose of having a laptop to end up either tied to my desk when I want to listen to music, or dealing with some long cord. Basically, any way to have my speakers wirelessly communicate with my computer would be awesome, although the problem is I don't have that much money to spend on this (around 150 bucks of my girlfriend's money because she got me a present that didn't work out for me and she doesnt want to try to pick me out a new present).Originally posted by SarienWhat is it exactly you're wanting to set up facetious? This appears to almost be a good solution: http://www.apple.com/airportexpress/ but the problem is that I don't really have a good stereo system. If I did, it would be perfect, because I doubt my dorm room is going to be wireless-enabled next year, so that little guy would kill two birds with one stone.5:gen> man

You'll probably be plugging in your power cable each time you get back to your desk, so the extra 0.1 second it takes to plug in the speaker cable too is nothing. I was considering getting one of those AirPort Express gadgets too but the cost doesn't justify the convenience. If you organise your cords so that they all permanently sit on your desk in the right spot, it's no trouble to just plug them in.

In that case, you could simply buy a USB Bluetooth dongle, shove into your pc's USB port, enable the audio gateway service and use the speakers that are hooked up to the computer for audio output. This would probably be the cheapest solution, however your pc would have to be up and running all the time. The audio quality might not be awesome either.Originally posted by FacetiousI just got a 12-inch Powerbook G4, and the built-in speakers obviously suck. Well, if I was planning on always being at my desk when I was in my room that would make sense, but I don't really. Having the power cord plugged into where I'm sitting is a lot easier than moving speakers around.Originally posted by AmokYou'll probably be plugging in your power cable each time you get back to your desk, so the extra 0.1 second it takes to plug in the speaker cable too is nothing. First, I'd like to congratulate you on your Powerbook, you can feel free to add my AIM screen name (Leoncour) to your iChat contact list, and give me a yell if there's anything I can help you with. Which I can probably help you with quite a bit of small apps, utilities and the like.Originally posted by FacetiousThis appears to almost be a good solution: http://www.apple.com/airportexpress/ but the problem is that I don't really have a good stereo system.
The Airport Express is the option I'd go with. There ARE third party Bluetooth enabled speakers and kits, etc, but from what I know you apparently get almost no bass through bluetooth speakers. However looking at the Airport Express, you can pipe it through any sort of powered speakers, including small desktop powered PC speaker deals. At $129 it is within your budget, and also you have to recognize that you won't always live in a dorm, and your powerbook will probably stick with you for quite a while yet to come. I'd be glad to bounce ideas back and forth with you, and see what all info I can turn up on the subject, just give me a yell on iChat.
Ahh.. one thing you had wrong though I believe. You won't be able to use the Airport express as a base station, I don't think. The Airport Base Station is essentially the same thing as a Wireless Router Access point, but a Airport Express is mostly for music, with the added ability to extend the range of an Airport Base Station, as well as a few other things."Sexy" Steve Mijalis-Gilster, IVX

Well you could try using an FM transmitter such as this:Originally posted by FacetiousWell, if I was planning on always being at my desk when I was in my room that would make sense, but I don't really. Having the power cord plugged into where I'm sitting is a lot easier than moving speakers around.

But then you need a stereo system than can pick up radio signals and by the sound of it, you just want a pair of speakers. Plus it would probably be annoying having that thing dangling out of your headphones port. Anyway, I use on of those Belkins in the car with my iPod and it works great, except the batteries only last about 8 hours.
