  • Useful Programs

Here are some programs that I find really useful ... all of them are free:

I like using all the programs here bc they're mostly small progs, fairly easy to use, contain useful options, and are free.

    1) Firebird - Browser, tabs, popup blocker, more screenspace, cursor commands, google bar integrated ... http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/
    2) Adaware - Gets rid of adware, spyware, bad stuff in general that annoy you / cause problems w/comp ... http://www.lavasoftusa.com/
    3) Spybot - Use in conjunction w/adaware to get rid of adware, spyware etc ... http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html
    4) Gaim - Good alternative to aim, other instant messengers ... since I basically only use aim so I dunno how good the integration w/other IMs are but it gets rid of ads and seems like a clean, easy-to-use alternative ... http://gaim.sourceforge.net/
    5) irfan - Small, fast easy to use program to view diff types of picture files and video files ... nifty slideshow thing that allows u to quickly scan through all the pics in a folder .... http://www.irfanview.com/
    6) foobar - Best audio player I've ever tried ... very customizable, very small memory footprint so a snap to load up, handles huge playlists easily, and just clean and simple ... this is for those who like to listen to music w/o the clutter of winamp's gfx ... basically for those who don't care that much about looks but about the music ... realgain option allows u to streamline all the volumes so that u don't haft constantly adjust your volume when a misripped loud mp3 comes on ... only downside is no wma support ... http://www.foobar2000.org/

Lemme know if you guys use any nifty FREE programs.

              Azureus -Java Bittorrent Client
              Simple and useful Torrent client.
              http://azureus.sourceforge.net/

              BS Player
Video player, works well imo next to the Classic Media player.
              http://www.bsplayer.org/

              Real Alternative:
Will allow you to play RealMedia files without having to install RealPlayer/RealOne Player, (Which sucks and is a pain to have on any system, also look for quicktime alternative works good also.)
              http://www.free-codecs.com/download/...lternative.htm
--The K-Lite Codec package might be something better then downloading the 2, I think it includes both and a lot more--

              Kazaa Speedup Pro
Speeds up K-lite downloads ensuring full utilization of bandwidth, works with all Fast Track clients
              http://www.download.com/3000-2166-10247447.html

              RivaTuner
A powerful tweaking utility for NVIDIA and ATI display adapters

                For Macs:

                DivX Doctor 2.x:
Converts .avi files (not compatible with Quicktime, or WMP) to .mov files which run beautifully without a hitch.
