For all the metalheads out there

As I'm sure most of you know, the new Lamb of God CD, "Ashes of the Wake", will be released August 31st. Thanks to the magic of P2P, I've finally secured all 11 tracks. Took me a while, but I give the album five stars and then some. The band lays down more of the same brutal, in-your-face sound that dominated "As the Palaces Burn". They're still unlike any other band in the American metal scene today. If you're going to download the album, do it NOW. If you're going to buy the album, be at your local store the minute it opens up. You cannot miss this. It gets my vote for Album of the Year so far.

Blah blah, third album, blah, sellouts, yada yada album sucks, wah wah. I heard the same crap about so many other bands that gained popularity. They said it about Hatebreed's '03 release. They said it about Meshuggah's '02 release. They'll probably say it about Slayer's new release on November 2nd, simply because they're following their own trend of bashing new albums for fear of going against the status quo. If you don't like it, don't listen to it.

Bottom line, it's a matter of opinion, and I don't really care about yours.

Purists won't like it because the, dare I say it, agonizingly overdone whiny, shrill howls and shrieks that all of the supposedly "great" metal bands (whom, needless to say, I find mediocre at best) seem to excel at are all but gone. Tough shit. Only those with the musical ear of a horse can tolerate that ungodly bullshit anyway. Why do you think In Flames sucks now? Their work, once rightfully hailed as innovative and a legitimate throwback to the days of real metal, has turned into an art fairy festival.
