    FIXING THE DISC READ ERROR!

This will only work to fix a "disk read error". This will not fix damaged CDs or other problems that do not have to do with the white gear in the back. I am not responsible if you kill yourself when you do this, nor anything else that happens.

Okay, this is what you'll need....

1 Minature Screwdriver, phillips head, the ones used for eyeglasses
    1 Screwdriver, phillips head
1 vaccum or can of compressed air, dust sprayer
    1 Felt Marker

Note: When taking off the case, be gentle as there is a silver ribbon keeping the lid to the system. This ribbon powers the eject and on/off switch on the front. Keep them attached and make sure you don't tear it off.

Step 1. Make sure the PS2 is turned off. If it is on, you will die from electricity.
Step 2. Remove the black square panels, 8 of them from the bottom of the PS2
Step 3. Unscrew the screws that are holding the PS2 case together
Step 4. Void the warranty ... trust me, you'll know its void, they make you know. Remove the sticker that has the warranty info.
Step 5. Remove the case from the system. Remember to pull out the memory card(s), controller(s), harddrive and/or network adapter.
Step 6. At this time, if you wish, you can clean out the dust with the vaccum or compressed air.
Step 7. Now, turn on your PS2 and open up the CD-ROM drive, and then shut off the PS2 again.
Step 8. Use the eyeglass screwdriver to open up the 4 screws that are holding on the lid to the CD rom itself.
Step 9. Take off the lid and you'll notice a white dial next to a small metal strip. Mark where the white disc currently is with a marker. It should be touching on the left side of the dial if you're facing the PS2 from the front.
Step 10. This dial is the source of your problem, it tells the laser lens how far away from the DVD/CD it should be. This dial wears off during the years so you need to readjust this. Take the dial and turn it to the left or right 1 click.
Step 11. Put in the game and see if it works.
Step 12. If the game does not work, move it over again. Keep repeating until the game works. If the game does not work after turning one direction for a while, then turn it the other direction.

Note: Do not use the PS2 while it is vertical.

I speak the truth! Look! This one guy did it and it fixed all his problems. Its realatively easy to do. And all you really need to know is how to turn a screw, and find the color white, around black!

And, if you want to have a "unique" PS2, I don't play with my case on anymore, lol.

Well, my try of taking apart the ps2 analog controller wasn't successful. See, the L3 part kept automatically resetting to a designated position, whether it be left or up or right, so whenever i let go (not walking my character around), the controller thinks im going in one of those 3 directions, instead of resetting to neutral. So i took the shit apart, and now my r2 and l2 buttons are loose cuz i couldn't put it back together like it was. ANYONE KNOW HOW TO FIX THIS SHIT?

My Axl will totally ease you newbs.

1 frame FRC = the hardest in game. That's right, bitches.

Although in #reloaded they increased it, so now a bunch of tools started using axl cuz his FRC is easier.

Other people i use: Venom, Dizzy. Ownage.

                      1. Kim, first thing I would try is to clean the joystick itself as much as you can. Try WD40 to see if you can lubricate the joint for better movement, but I'm not sure if that will work.

Another thing to try is to recalibrate the joint itself. Look for a device that appears to hold it into place and tinker with it. I have the same exact problem with one of my Dual Shock 2's so I'll see what I find out.

                      2. Axl is one of the most underrated fighters in the game in my opinion next to Faust.

                      3. Bridget is a transexual, no lie. In the storyline Bridget is a guy.

How to fix your analog joystick on your PS2 Controller

Word of Warning: This is an advanced repair job, be warned, you can render your PS2 Dual Shock 2 unrepairable if you break any of the parts inside and it can be difficult to put back together perfectly.

REMEMBER: READ ALL OF THIS BEFORE STARTING YOUR REPAIRS TO MAKE SURE THAT YOU ARE PREPAIRED FOR THIS!

You will need: 1 Eyeglass Screwdriver "Phillips Head" and 1 Eyeglass Screwdriver "Flat head"

DISCLAIMER: I'M NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR YOU SCREWING UP YOUR CONTROLLER AND RENDERING IT UNUSABLE BY FOLLOWING THIS GUIDE THAT WILL HOPEFULLY FIX YOUR JOYSTICK PROBLEMS. IF YOU CAN'T DO THIS, IT'S YOUR OWN FAULT, GO BUY A NEW ONE.

This is the front of your PS2 Controller, if you don't know what a PS2 controller is, and this picture doesn't help, then you shouldn't be reading this

This is the back of the same controller. You need a tiny phillips head screwdriver to unscrew all 6 screws. Note: make sure you know what you're getting into before doing this. Read the rest of this walkthrough before continuing.

This is what you're gonna see when you open up your controller. The two metal pieces hanging of the sides are the "rumblers". They spin really fast shaking the controller.

                          Controller Repair : Part 2

Here are all the parts inside the controller that are gonna fall out, lol. Better make note of what goes where.

This is the "joint" of your PS2 joystick, this needs to be recalibrated. It should be facing straight up and down at a 90 degree angle.

See, when you move the joystick it turns with it, this is the joint that affects left and right, side to side movements. Use your flathead screwdriver to do this.

                            Controller Repair : Part 3

This is the one that controls the up and down, front to back movements. Depending on which way your joystick is leaning, is where you wanna fix it.

To recalibrate, hold the joystick at a 90 degree angle and realign the white plastic joint.
