Drugs, legal vs illegal

Got this from another forum, though it would provide a good debate here-

Should all drugs be legal? Should they all be regulated and some made illegal?

If some drugs are illegal, shouldn't alcohol and tobacco be illegal?

Are people disciplined enough to control themselves regarding drug use, or should we err on the side of caution and make policy that believes people couldn't handle casual drug use?

Should benign drugs such as marijuana be legal while hard drugs such as crack be illegal?

How does the policy in other countries effect drug use? Holland's policy on weed for example. And on the opposite spectrum, a policy of no alcohol use in countries like Saudi Arabia.

Alcohol is a hard drug, tobacco too.
Marijuana is legal here in Belgium, but only a small amount(i think it was 3 grams or sumthin) but nobody cares, you can go across the border to Holland and get some.

I don't mind people on weed tho, they're usually mellow
But heavily drunk aggressive people are just plain :eek:.
I drink too, but i know my limit(and go across every now and then) but I don't get aggressive.

Anyhow, Soft drugs okay, hard drugs bad, to put it simple.
I think soft drugs should be legal, but only for own use, and if you're over 18.
If you use it in your own home or in designated places that's fine with me, and definately not in the vicinity of kids. then it's all 'kay to me

Oh my, oh my... isn't this a sensitive thread for all you crackheads? o_O j/k. Well I'm sticking with the Dutch Drugs policy. I live in the Netherlands.. and it's very simple here..
Alcohol (beer, other light stuff) 16+
Smoking (normal cigarettes) 16+
Alcohol (heavy shit 20%+) 18+
Soft drugs (weed, hash etc etc) 18+
Well just visit Amsterdam someday and you'll be amazed what kind off stuff is legal over here, shrooms.. tons of smart drugs.. etc etc.. You can even get weed for free (medical reasons) .. insane.. But if this is good? I cant tell. I see alot of young boys/girl fuck up their live with those kinds of drugs.. and with all sorts of hard drugs.. which are illegal.. but you can get them just about anywhere if you have the connections...(I DONT HAVE THEM!!! i'm innocent ) Anyways.. Smoking some from time to time is just like drinking a beer when you feel like it. I do see why some drugs should be illegal and why some drugs dont need to be illegal.. But then again... I can perfectly keep my smokig (weed, hash)in control unless 70% of the others using soft drugs (those numbers are based on all the crackhead guys I know $)

I say make weed legal. Alcohol has worse effects than weed, yet weed still remains illegal.
