Belive it or not, if you wanna get a 'rough' history about the Samurai dynasties, play Samurai Warriors by Koei. Sure, you'll be creating your own history, but there are many characters who are straight out of the history books, its a challenge to try to follow what really happened in history and recreate those victories / defeats in the game itself. It's a good place to start, a funny thing is you'll see names of people from the Onimusha series that they also used.
