One screen is a touch-sensitive input screen, like a PDA. This will allow you, for example, to use a stylus to point and aim and shoot in their feature FPS game Metroid Prime: Hunters.

I personally think the DS will do better than the PSP, maybe not by a lot, but better in the end. PSP still needs to fix that damn battery problem, and so far, I just don't think they are marketing it very well. To have a portable GT4 is cool and all, but why spend the $300 they are talking for the system to buy/play games I probably already have. Granted new games will come out, but has there even been a set price for the UMDs? They gotta be more expensive than catridges. DS just seems to have so much more potential whereas PSP is just going "LOOK!! WE CAN HAVE A PORTABLE TOO, BUT WITH MUSIC AND MOVIES!!! HAZAAH!!"

"There are those who said this day would never come. What have they to say now?"

UMDs might be more expensive cause people will pay more for the games, but, on paper, they should be cheaper than cartridges to make.

Well yeah, that's been the thing since PSX( the original PlayStation, not the new super duper one ) came out, CD/DVDs and dics in general are cheaper and easier to make. But still, unless they come out with some majorly good games *coughanythingnotmetalgearacidcough* it's not going to do too well I think, because the prices for handheld games have been $20 - $30 for the past decade, people will buy UMDs if they cast $30+, but won't want to, because what's the use of having a portable that costs as much as a home console and the games be just as much?

Also, duel releasing UMDs and DVDs is just plain, stu~pid. If FFVII: AC is coming out on DVD, why the fuck am I going to buy that AND the UMD?

I heard that its gonna come out where you get both in one package. Sony is trying to work out a deal where more movies will come out on both formats in the same case.

And after looking at the 50+ games that are in development, the quality of games definately aren't an issue. It's almost like having a portable PS2. It'll be pretty kickass.

never really been a big fan of the portable systems no matter how amazing they are

i mean, who wants to play that when you can play a ps2/gc/xbox at home anyways

and when you're not at home, who would really wanna be playing video games... not me

Both in one package? Do they plan to do that with all DVDs? I doubt that. I still stand on what I said earlier, PSP seems to be showing a "HEY LOOK WE CAN MAKE A HANDHELD TOO THAT ALSO PLAYS MOVIES AND MUSIC!!!" while DS actually shows future potentail to help change the gaming society as did Game Boy back when it debuted. For all we know, PSP might do really well thanks to name and overall quality( I do believe Sony is pretty damn good ), though when it comes down to it, Nintendo knows what it is doing when it comes to handhelds, so I think it will win out.

Try working graveyard shift in an empty building, 'd rather not lug my consoles all the way to work, by pass moniters, cameras and DSL connections to hook up a TV and my console.

Bullshit. While Nintendo has done wonderful things in the past, this dual screen just screams cash cow to me.

Who the fuck needs that kind of option when they're playing? Do you really want to be bothered with a stlyus point while you're trying to play an FPS? It reminds me of the rip-off known as Crystal Chronicles, where you needed a GBA for each player. My friends and I tried it (rented the game) and wow, how about it's convinent but definately not needed. It would have been a nice bonus feature, but making it a requirement was just stupid. I'm going to have to see some actual kick ass options that go along with this DS before I even think of buying it.
My father in law was telling me over Thanksgiving about this amazing bartender at some bar he frequented who could shake a martini and fill it to the rim with no leftovers and he thought it was the coolest thing he'd ever seen. I then proceeded to his home bar and made four martinis in one shaker with unfamiliar glassware and a non standard shaker and did the same thing. From that moment forward I knew he had no compunction about my cock ever being in his daughter's mouth.

Hmm, I wonder if the online gaming on the PSP is gonna have a distance restriction. Like, can you do worldwide gaming or is it restricted to some local area? If it's worldwide, it'll be badass.
This is coming from the same guy that refuses to buy a PS3 because he thinks PS/PS2 hardware is shit? What makes you think the PSP hardware will be any different?

I imagine the battery life in the PSP will suck, too.

I'm not getting either. I'm happy playing NES/SNES games on my iPAQ (not to mention emulating a ton of other stuff, too (such as TI-8x calculators)).
