  • Word processing via Voice recognition

Anyone know of any (free) software that lets you write documents by speaking into a microphone?

I wouldn't want it to replace some things I click, like I wouldnt say "insert table 4 by 4", i would want to click that. But for bulk text it would be nice to be able to sit back and give my fingers a rest.

    Free- I have no idea.

Pay- One program I know of was made by IBM called "Youtalkittypes." I don't know where you could find a copy though.

I got a headset ages ago for my old computer and it came with some software for voice recognition typing.

I think Microsoft Plus! has something with voice recognition, but thats not free..........ahem.

It's not freeware, but Dragon NaturallySpeaking pretty much owns all other speech recognition software.

The CMU Sphinx project is OpenSource and free for download, but for unix/linux only.

I don't know about any free voice recognition software for Win32.
        There's no place like 127.0.0.1

            Agreed.
A few version of Office XP (the english version for sure) have a built-in voice recognition option, but it's pretty lousy.
