On the subject of 311, give me some more good songs by them. All I have right now are "All Mixed Up" and "Down".

ok i will try to tell you the more user friendly ones first.. i started listening to their newer stuff first and then gradually went back in time 10 years. give them a few listens and you will like them.

I was way into 311 for the first 2 albums... the third one was disapointing, but I still hung on, and it grew on me some, but wasn't as good as the first two.. the fourth one lost me completely.

Just download their first two albums and stop there.

yeah it depends i guess.. music and 311 are great, but grassroots is just awesome.. with transistor they went pretty crazy, put on a lot of trippy songs. then in soundsystem they kind of went back to a balance between trippiness and reggae rock. soundsystem and grassroots are my favorites.

grassroots and music were great, then 311 was cheesey, but still had that element of "the lyrics are kinda dumb, but it's still pretty fun at the show" then transistor came out and they used that retarded distortion to smooth out hexon's voice in all of the choruses and it was just a shitload of 3 minute pop songs that all had the same sound.

But that's the thing.. they're not weird, they all have the same sound and it really sounds to me like they were trying to be radio-friendly.

almost half the songs dont even come close to having a chorus. one doesnt have words, and another is the same thing repeated over and over. you cant call that radio friendly.

if anything 311's blue album was way more radio friendly. all mixed up and down were huge because of their extremely catchy choruses. the only one that comes close to that on transistor is beautiful disaster.

and yes i am having trouble writing this paper.
