Okay so on Thursday the 7th of October I went to the Nintendo Fusion tour in Seattle. Basically it was this big ass concert, where there was a section blocked off for video Games. I didnt play any of the video games ( the music was what i was there for) but i did see a bunch of demos on two big ass screens projecting next to the stage. Neways the reason i went was to see the following Six Bands:
My Chemical Romance
Matchbook Romance
Lost Prophets
Fallout Boy
Taking Back Sunday
Story of the Year
Mostly for TBS, but i wanted to see the others too. I will now review my experience, so that if the Fusion Tour heads ure way, u should know whats gonna happen, and go. Oh and BTW i was up on the rail for everyone but Story of the Year
My Chemical Romance- Even though they only had a short set of 4 songs, they started the show off with a bang! The lead singer (who is a homosexual) came out before the show and said "Seattle is the only city in America who has approved Gay Marriage, You Guys fucking rock the fags out!" and the crowd cheered. Neways, the lead singer was full of energy, and pretty much stole the show (especially during Give Em' Hell Kid) despite the fact that the music was really good. All in all, they got the crowd energized for the rest of the concert. Oh, and the bass player gave his bass to some dude in the front, I was pissed, cuz i was on the rail too, only like 4 ppl away.
Matchbook Romance- Ok, from a great performance, to a very sluggish performance. They started out great, opening with My Eyes Burn, and i was singing word for word, so the lead singer pointed at me. After the first song though, no one had any energy. The Lead Guitarist didnt sing the back up vocals, the band itself hardly moved around the stage, and the singer wasn't giving the lyrics much emmotion. This was the worst performance of the night, despite the fact that the music was pretty good, the singing, and overall stage performance were simply sluggish.
Fallout Boy- The only reason i stayed up front for Fallout Boy was because it was my friends favorite band. Afterwards, though, I was not at all dissapointed. They played their hearts out. They had the entire show choreographed perfectly. At one point, the Lead Singer ducked, as the Bass Player swung his guitar over the lead singers head, giving the effect that it barely missed. They Ended the Show with Grand Theft Autamn, which was fuckin amazing. At one point, The Bassist mad a motion of slitting his throat, which doesn't sound that cool, but it looked awesome. Also, the Lead Guitarist was always spinning his guitar, and he spent almost all of Tell Mick, in the crowd. This was probably my second best performance of the night, everything worked, the music, the energy, and the overall stage performance.
Lost Prophets- Before they even took the stage, there were technically difficulties, resulting in a 20 minute delay. So when they took the stage, I expected the best performance of the night. What i got was the Welsch national Anthem. Yes, they played the Welsch National anthem before they actually played their songs. Neways, the crowd was respectful during the anthem, but they were just "ok." They weren't bad necesarily, but they also weren't that awesome either. During Last Train Home, he said they would stop if the crowd didn't jump, so the entire crowd was in the air the whole time. Other than that though, their show was just average. Oh, and the lead singer tried to swing the mic around and catch it twice, and he dropped it both times.
Taking Back Sunday- Oh yeah! the band I came to see, my favorite band. They had an hour long set, as did story of the year, and they used all 60 minutes. They got 8 songs off their old album, and 6 of their new. The entire crowd knew the words, so everyone was singing them. Before they started playing, The drummer Ed, came out and started throwing water on ppl, cooling us all off, and making me love them even more, for using their water for their show on us. When they took the stage, everyone pushed up front, so i couldnt even move, that was gay, but after like 3 songs, ppl spread out again so i had room. Adam Lazarra, the lead singer of TBS dove into the crowd like 5 times, but none of that mattered compared to the stunt he pulled later on. During the performance, their fat ass guitarist ( I forget his name) Had this guitar that had one of those hypno wheels built into it, so he would play that crazy crap. Neways, for their last song Cute without the E, all the lights went out, so all u could hear was the guitar opening up. Then, when the beat kicked in, the lights turned back on, and Adam is in the Fucking Wood beam rafters, 15 feet off the stage! No one knows how he got up there, but he's singing from up there. Then, he started swinging upside down, from his ankles, proving to me that TBS is well worth seeing, and most definetely kicks ass!
Story of the Year- I felt bad for SOY, because they were the last band, and about 200 (out of like 1,000) of the people had left after TBS, and the remaining crowd was hungry, tired, weary, and wanted to go home. But they came out full of energy, putting on the best performance of all the bands. They started with the Hero will Drown, and i wished that i had been up front for that, but i left to get water, and couldnt get back to my spot. Neways, my friends and i each took turns hoisting each other up to go crowd surfing. It fuckin rocked. SOY not only were actively moving around the stage, but their lead singer was constantly high fiving the crowd, and at one point he was singing from on top of the crowd. He was literally standing up on top of the crown, as he sang.Neways, the guitarist kept doing the Spinning Guitar trick, and the bass player even managed to do it. At one Point, the guitarist also stood on top of the crowd, as he played a solo. SOY worked the crowd well, singing "Sweet Home Seattle." and making jokes about the girls that were flashing them. They ended their set with Until the Day I Die, and everyone was singing. Once again i wished i had stayed in the front row, because they pulled like 45 ppl on stage from the gaurd rail, and had them sing. Afterwards, the lead singer began throwing them into the crowd. It was great, the best performance of the night, with pretty good music to back it up.
