I saw the most absurd thing last night.

Some guy named Daunte Culpepper was running around pub blatantly ripping off Izor, spouting "ez" this and "newbed" that. He finally got out of control and let the infamous J-word slip, upon which he received a racism warning from Lunar Crescence. He then (correctly) pointed out that Jews are not a race, and suggested anti-Semitism be his crime rather than racism. This netted him a second warning, which didn't even contain the correction, but a mere threat.

I had mixed emotions at this point: I felt a sense of hatred for the ignorant staffer, but I couldn't help but laugh my ass off. Daunte made a fool of Lunar, so she threatened him with two warnings. gg.

yea i have to agree with ezor or izor or whoever he is , that jew thing is just fucking retarded, infact the whole racist slur enforcement thing is completely outa control,,, but if you think thats bad,, if you get caught swearing like "fuck" or calling some1 else a "fucking asshole" in WOw, and a gm sees you do it, they will give you a warning and then on #2, a ban, right there, no questions asked.

i think the worst example is there was a guy named cracker or somthing in tw's , who got banned, i dunno i may have the story wrong,, but i just felt that was realy retarded..ofcourse u also have to police people who are spamming the N word, so , yea, its a tough thing to deal with. i wonder what the best solution would be?

For starters, people could just stop throwing out certain words as if they don't mean anything and then get surprised when people tell them they do. I mean, even if you aren't intentionally being anti-semetic, is there any real reason to use the word unless you're actually talking about Jews? I mean, how do you "let the infamous J-word slip"?


Second, we have to overcome the stigma around racism. People treat it like some great issue that they have to tread softly around and anytime someone talks about race people start thinking racism. That's like thinking anytime you see a jav bomb that it's going to teamkill your terr. People argue that, by enforcing anti-racism rules, staff is causing people to be more racist. Personally, I think that's a lazy assumption that pretends to justify something when it truth it doesn't. What it does point out is that everyone, staff and regular people alike, treat racism like a ticking bomb that will go off at any moment. The truth is that racism should be treated just like any other rule in TW. If someone tks someone and no staff members see it and no one makes a ?cheater call on it, then leave it at that. If people ?cheater it, then staff would handle it, but otherwise, people move on. Racism should be the same. If you see racism and feel like reporting it, then do so. Staff should come and if they see it continuing, then they should act on it. They shouldn't go around following every instance of race any more than they should go around watching every jav shot in case it tks someone.

I am not however saying that people should ignore racism as a whole. The whole "just ?ignore it" response is flawed. If you feel it's a problem then go ahead and make sure something is done. Treat it the same as if people were teamkilling each other or breaking any other rules. And if staff finds a case where they feel something should be done, then go ahead and do it, just like you would any other rule. Sure, it might come down to a judgement call, but so do teamkilling cases.



Oh, and incidentally, in many ways, Jew can be considered both a religion and a race. The term race itself is varied enough that Jewish people can fit under it. The difference between being anti-semetic and racist is very little that claiming you weren't being racist, just anti-semetic shouldn't be a defence.

No offence/offense (damn im dumb) to staff or anyone else, but is "J" really that offensive? i could've sworn the derogatory word for someone who is Jewish was "ky**". Anyways, many people freak out when it comes to race and religion. Oh well.
