    1up.com lists PSP as $200...

Still too much for a portable I think.

EDIT: Nintendo DS comes with a demo of the Metroid game, and it's fifty dollars less. Will PSP come with anything?

    How about better graphics?

    Better games?

Don't get me wrong, I love me some Zelda (although I thought Wind Waker was kind of boring) and I love me some Metroid (although I yearn for the days of the side-scroller), but Nintendo has definitely lost some shine for me.

Oh, and Mario Kart. They haven't fucked up that franchise yet.

Anyway, I think the PSP will be kinda cool. I probably won't buy one, but I'd buy one before I bought a DS.

I believe DS has more potential, they are trying something new while PSP is just making a bigger, brighter hey look over here type of Game Boy

DS has a 'gimmick' that shows how desparate they are against Sony. the PSP tries to be a portable PS2, and it's looking like it'll do it quite well.

No, a "gimmick" was Game Gear's color and backlight screen against the GameBoy. Nintendo was flooring them, so they tried to beat them. In portable, Nintendo doesn't have to beat anyone, they have to beat them, that's why GameBoy has been around so long. And if you think about it, the first GameBoy could be called a "gimmick" so it seems Nintendo and gimmicks equal out to good things.

Funny, some people would call the PSP a gimmick too.

Tell me the gimmick. Its a thing that plays games and movies. The Game Gear lost cause of marketing. Sega lost because of marketing and it's software base. Sega had alot of awesome arcade games, but they didn't translate well into console cause they don't have much longevity. They didn't push their advertizements as well as Nintendo's and Sony's.

Looking at polls, Nintendo has a lead cause of all the kids who play Game Boy already and will goto that. Beats me what will happen, but I don't like having to deal with a stylus and a controller at the same time.

Lol .... the XBOX and PS2 have that standard. That's no gimmick, that's expected by today's standards.

PSP is going to be 10 times better than DS. I'd still buy it if it was $300.

Not for a handheld, and especially not if it's going to need the movies in a different proprietary media. If it's going to play DVDs or even CDs then fine, but if it won't.

And you need some new batteries after watching 1 movie. Why do I want to watch stuff on the PSP? And they use special disks for it. Do you expect people just to buy a special movie disk just to watch a simple movie? Not me thats for sure.
