It's the 1st today numbnuts! Technically speaking the election started over a month ago for some mail in ballots, now didn't it.

Perhaps I'm giving Gall too much credit here, but I think what he's referring to is the fact that while the winner of the election is announced tomorrow, the votes aren't all tabulated until seven days later, allowing time for absentee ballots, etc to get added in. This is a problem because there is absolutely no record of votes kept during this period of time.

there also is a problem with all this new computer voting systems that leave no paper trail at all. I'm sure sooner or later they'll say So and So got 45 votes in this running, and more than 45 people will say they went and voted for him. Just wait for that ;/

The American voting system is pretty backwards anyways, it allows for mass corruption (check out the new floridian voting countys, they magically split a very strong democratic riding into two comibing it with strong republician ridings so that they can defend against it. Who is authorized to do this, why the Gov (Mr Republican Jeb (Geb? J or G?) Bush.

Actually, i think its the legistlature that does this. At least in Texas that's how it works. The state senators decide how to draw it then the ratify and i think the gov approves.

What I find "retarded" is the big America spending millions of dollars on wars and what not, and yet they still have place where voting goes by hand and on papers wich all have to hand counted. They could easily make a whole computerised system, with if you want backup paper votes, if something goes wrong it can still be counted by hand.

And from what I understand the winner is announced today, but yet in a week time or a bit less, it could change and the other dude could have won if its very close. Wich is retarded, don't announce the winner if its not definate yet.

The media bases the "winner" off of people who just left the voting booth and then asking them who they voted for. It's not an accurate way to "declare" the winner.
