  • LOTR: The fellowship of the ring

It was on tely last night here in Belgium
So,the fellowship is on its way and they arrive at the gates of Moria
    Gandalf forgot password
Frodo solves the riddle "speak, friend, and enter"
and then he asks: "what's the ELVISH word for friend?"
    it's "Mellon"
NOW WHY WOULD THE DWARV CAVES HAVE AN ELVISH PASSWORD?????

I don't know how to put this but I'm kind of a big deal...

Dude, everyone knows dwarves don't do magic. Therefore, to have a magic door, it'd have to be elvish.

Yes. The door was a gift to the Dwarves by some Elf-king back in the first age back when the Dwarves of Moria were friends with them. I forget the exact names of people but it's all in the book.

When Moria was created, the Elves still lingered in the woods and area's just before that side of Moria. That door was the door where the elvish and dwarfs would meet for trade etc. It was the door between the elves and Dwarves, so they made that door together, hence it has Elves writings on it.
Maybe God was the first suicide bomber and the Big Bang was his moment of Glory.

The Doors of Durin were made by Narvi: A Dwarf living in the second age of middle earth and Celebrimbor, an Elf of the Noldor Division and Lord of Eregion. The Elves of Eregion were friends with the Dwarfs of Khazad-dûm and constructed the magical symbols on the door using a magical substance called Ithildin. The Elves of Eregion played a great role in the main plot of LOTR, they forged the ring of power for Sauron. When his plan to use the ring of power to control the leaders of the other races failed he became angered and decimated the lands of Eregion.
