    WoW ST/OB Thread

    I got into the stress test of WoW earlier this week and I logged out of it for the first time like 40 mins ago (lunch break). Anyone else in the Stress test/ hoping to get into the Open Beta? A few things:

    -The intro is amazing. If you liked FFXI's, you'll love this one. The detail in the animation is insane, and the music fit in very well. Warlock hurling fireballs at a minion, Dwarf hunter nearby Ironforge, Nelf druid running and turing into a panther, omg it's much much <3

    -The background music is great. It changed when I went into a cave full of troll whelps and a "pub" of sorts, and it's such a smooth tranistion, it's just sweet.

    -I didn't really leave the starting map, I just had fun doing quests for people and killing wolves and troggs and trolls. I'm trying out a gnome rogue for the stress test and going to have a Nelf Warrior for retail. The graphics are also crisp and nice, the style of the game definately shines and I think it's better that they didn't try to go 3d like FFXI and EQ2.

    -Midget rogue of death!! My char. name is Bibbpty, and he's level 4. I'm going to go play some more in a second, just wanted to drop this topic in.
    My father in law was telling me over Thanksgiving about this amazing bartender at some bar he frequented who could shake a martini and fill it to the rim with no leftovers and he thought it was the coolest thing he'd ever seen. I then proceeded to his home bar and made four martinis in one shaker with unfamiliar glassware and a non standard shaker and did the same thing. From that moment forward I knew he had no compunction about my cock ever being in his daughter's mouth.

    Got my rogue to 10, dual wielding is the ****. I'm a little midget of death with 2 daggers, and the talent tree looks like it will be fun. Druid is still at 2, but I'll work on her later. But to my main point:

    Warlock is so much fun it's stupid.

    And stupid in a good way. You get this Imp around lvl 3 I think, and he shoots fireballs at your enemies. You can set him to be defensive (kills anything that comes close to you), aggressive (kills anything) or passive (no idea because I like my Imp owning stuff). My Imp's name is Krakdoom, which reminded me of Cracka-Doom, or doom of the cracka. We can't choose the names of our minions (minions..I have a minion, <3) so I think it was fate for Krakdoom and I to be paired together on this journey of death and destruction. I had him light rebels on fire, distract foolio's while I run around them to treasure, and blow up little gremlin like things. He hops around and has green hellfire around him, it's so sweet. My warlock is level 5, almost to 6. You're not even in a rush to level up with Warlock, the levels just add up on their own as you go around pillaging and murdering. It's like pokemon, with the devil. Did I mention at level 10 I get this huge mofo that is called a Voidwalker? That's right. Voids. He walks over those. Because he can.

    EDIT: My Imp's stats grow along as your level increases, so his health and mana get bigger and bigger. I love it

      All of the classes have their own fundamentals and types of fun, in the end it's pretty much what the individual is comfortable playing with; finding your niche!


      I agree though, the cinematics are amazzzzzzing... and you appreciate it even more if you know everything that's happening during that intro.
      Though the part that wets me the most is when everything goes silent and black, then you hear the gunshot and it's the Dwarf and his pet bear attacking the incoming Tauren, so sweet...

      Just a note about the intro:
      The human hurling fireballs was a Mage fighting a Warlock's Infernal... And the Undead you saw in the intro was a Warlock summoning his Infernal minion, how spectacular!!!




      I'll be needing a computer upgrade in order to run this game at retail if I indeed get it, 256 RAM = no good lmao.

        Well, I'm at an art college going for an animation major (hoping for 2d work, but will do 3d if I have to). I was talking to a friend that's almost done, he is currently taking advanced 3d animation class. To get the bodies to look right, you have to first create the skeletal frame for the body, and then the muscle tissue and all that fun stuff. Then you have to create the skin/hair on top of that. Thing is, you also have to create a barrier of sorts between the skin and the muscle/bone, so that the muscle doesn't pop up over the skin when you move the character. It's really complicated, and it puts stuff like that intro into a whole new light for me.

                  World of Warcraft, Blizzard's stab at an MMORPG, and when they stab at a new gamestyle, they go for the gold.... WoW is a great example of this. Starcraft Ghost is next on the horizon. I don't think it will be all that popular because of the release of Halo 2, and Halo fan's sheer ignorance to any other FPS game (like UT2k4, which takes everything from Halo and makes it faster, stronger, and bloodier). However, if they spend as much time on Ghost as they have with Warcraft III, Diablo II, and World of Warcraft (the worlds most anticipated PC games... EVER), then I think it could surpass Halo 2 in means of gameplay and perhaps graphics (but by far not popularity).

                  Anyways, I'm excited for WoW to come out, and I hear everything is getting a revamping with the release as well. Do you think 512 will be enough? Because all I have are 2 more 128s to fit in my ram slots.

                    512 will be iffy. I have 512 and while I could play the game absolutely fine with 0 slowdown normally, as long as I wasn't trying to run full everything obviously, in the big cities especially near the auction hall the game just chugged to unbearable points with all the idiots in the same area all dueling each other and stuff, just couldn't handle it. Griffon rides would also chug alot but since there is nothing to do but wait while on them it wasn't a huge issue there. Would take 10 minutes to get into the bank in IF and out. When there were lots of people on the screen like in raids it was also unbearablely slow making it impossible to participate in any of those. With all the people that will be playing when it's released you're going to probably have a good bit of frustration with 512. Granted I could have helped the problem some by playing on 800x600 but doing that to the game is just cruel, it looks so much uglier.

                    P.S. UT in all it's variations sucks. I've never played a less fun FPS game.

                        Note: And I tried out 2 female char for this OB/ST because I always wondered why guys would have them when they play MMO's. I heard the " If I have to stare at it for x amount of hours, I want it to be female", but I can honestly say that the pixels just don't do it for me. Sorry. The main good thing about having a female char is the 16 year old chumps who will help you out with quests for no other reason then the slight hope that you're actually a female. I was in a kobold cave trying to get 10 gold dust bags and these 2 guys randomly came up, invited me and helped me get them. I would have thought they did it out of the kindness of their hearts if I hadn't seen them pass up a gnome getting gang-banged and a human warrior (male) being chased. W/e, I got my dust. Suckers.

                        Yesterday I went to Stormwind for the first time. That place is huge., and the statues that lead into the city are awesome:

                        Yesterday the lag was horrible, and I needed to go kill this sorceress as apart of the quest to get my voidwalker. Well thanks to my lag, my Imp showed up after I was dead, so I logged off. I couldn't log on until tonight and I made sure to shank her well:

                          Reading this makes me want to start playing again. The game is really fun because you have all the races and classes to choose from. If you really want to know more about the game, goto www.worldofwarcraft.com. I'd buy it no problem if it weren't for the monthly fee. I'm going to have to think about it because I'm not that rich either :greedy: .
