          I'll repeat it until the College Board lowers prices and stops being such dicks about the whole ordeal.

Working with my niece and nephew on this stuff, I know that still none of the colleges in the North East area of the US really deals with ACTs, and that such a small percentage of people take it, that they usually just disregard it up here. Anyways, though I'm not going to argue that CT isn't a smart state (I live there, end of story ), I don't think you can properly argue this IQ debate with the given information. Hell, I didn't even have to say anything, look at the low percentage of students that took it in Connecticut alone, 9%.
            thats a good point paul. there are a few kerry states where a high percentage of students took the test, these 3 states were all in the 60's range. so to remove the variable of low percentages selecting for higher intelligence students here is a comparison between kerry states in the 60's and bush states in the 60's.

            kerry:
            michigan 21.4 68%
            minnesota 22.2 66%
            wisconsin 22.2 68%

            ave------> 21.9

            bush:
            new mexico 20.1 61%
            ohio 21.4 66%
            oklahoma 20.6 29%
            utah 21.5 67%
            west virginia 20.5 65%
            iowa 22.0 67%

            ave------> 21.0

              I maintain that the entire state of Mississippi is dumb as a rock.

                While I do think standardized tests are bullshit to a large degree, I think it's also interesting to see that it's Republicans who are pushing the public school system to have such a huge dependency on them. The entire Virginia public education system has changed entirely to be focused on standardized testing (which is crap) and whose idea was that? The Republicans. So if you're saying "standardized tests don't mean anything, blah blah blah, Republicans are just as smart" there's something you agree with the Democrats on.

                  The ACT is growing in popularity as a replacement for the SAT, because it tests knowledge much more than an abstract "reasoning" capacity. The new SAT is addressing some of these concerns.

                  I have absolutely no problem with standardized tests, 'cause I'm dialing toll-free, baby.

                          True, chances to be rich enough to by a nice car is better if you're smart and live in a stupid society than if you're reatrded and live together with a few million Einsteins.
