Guild Wars or WoW?

If you're only prepared to buy one of these games, which would it be and why?

WoW beta has been pretty good, but I like the look of GW, and the fact that it's not pay to play is a bonus.

Has anyone played both?
Pro/Cons?

Guild Wars seems to have better lag so far, at least for me. Don't tell me cause it's 'beta', cause they're both in beta right now. Personally, I'm gonna do GW cause I have more friends who are gonna play with me, and I already have a clan and crap there.

WoW's beta servers are laggy right now because they're putting the maximum capacity they can on each one. Once the game comes out the servers will be more evenly distributed.

Unless you're gunna be a hardcore player for WoW I don't know if you should pay the full monthly fee, so for leisure play I'd go with GW

I did really enjoy Guild Wars. It felt much more like Dungeon Siege or Neverwinter Nights than an MMORPG. WoW still has the same "camp and kill the same monsters" MMORPG format, although it does have alot of quests.

Add on the fact that Guild Wars won't be p2p, and you have a winner in my book!

As for the monthly fee, they have 60 day gift certificates for a little less than 30 bucks! Ask a friend or family member for one, and there's your free ticket for two months.

I've noticed over a year and a half that most people who don't like to pay monthly fees won't be swayed by how good they hear a game is.

I'd have to say, when you get down to it, that's what your decision is gonna come down to. Are you willing to play enough to get that $10 a month you're gonna pour into the game. If so, Go for it.
