Yes, infact it's 18 to be able to go into a bar and buy a pint. Or from an off-licence etc. Although you can drink in your own home from the age of 5 if your parents say it's Okay, but obviously if they got you drunk and made you dance around like a clown for fun they would (hopefully) get locked up. Also, it's not illegal to smoke under the age of 16, nor is it a criminal offense to buy cigarettes, however it is a criminal offense to sell someone who is Under 16 cigarettes? Understand?
