4/5 wtf I don't get the adding one is my calculator screwed up? I checked the math in my head again still got 5000 but my calc got 4100...WTF

Checking on my Ti-83 plus maybe microsoft has a glitch in their calc.

Edit:Nope someone please explain this one I know it isn't order of operations so I am fucking confused lol.

Editx2:I was talking to a friend of mine and adding them up and I fucking realized it is 30 I was somehow in my mind making it 300 I am a complete idiot fucking question tricked me.

You can do it easily this way: Take all the 1000 values and add them together. Take the rest and add them together. Then combine the two values:

1000 + 1000 + 1000 + 1000 = 4000.
40   + 30   + 20   + 10   =  100.
                            4100.

Or if you do it as it said in the sentence: 1000 + 40 = 1040 + 1000 = 2040 + 30 = 2070 + 1000 = 3070 + 20 = 3090 + 1000 = 4090 + 10 = 4100.

Always trying to do things the easy way, I did the first method first and got 4100. I tried it again and did them in order and ended up with 5000. I realized I was somehow taking 4090 to be 4900 and adding 100 to that to give me 5000.

I don't think its that. I remember this one thing where it goes like this:

You are a bus driver and your first stop, you pick up 23 passengers and you head off from New York to New Jersey. 14 people leave and 12 enter. You then are headed off to Chicago. There, 8 people get off and 4 more head back on. The next stop is all the way to Los Angeles where all the people get back on and there are now 35 people on the bus. What's the bus drivers name?
