Studies have proven that the general majority consider attractive people to be of a higher intelligence level than average looking people on a first impression basis, regardless of their actual presentation.

As for the swan, I think the idea of it is somewhat good. I mean, taking people who have been through alot and giving them something that they would have never otherwise gotten to experience. These were all beautiful people on the inside who've been through alot, including the emotional damage that comes along with being hideous. They were given artificial beauty, therapy and with alot of their own physical work they did become beautiful people.
I find it hilarious that you, Bioture, can watch a TV show and immediately say that it was terrible that these women got to be physically attractive. In a society where beauty is terribly important, which won't change, that was their only shot. You say these women shouldn't have plastic surgery, shouldn't BE beautiful, but the ones who are born with natural beauty are allowed to stay that way..
hmmm.. the only way to eliminate the terrible burdon society has dealt when it comes to beauty is to either A) make everyone equally beautiful/ugly or B) make everyone blind.
Even then, there would always be another rating system...

Anyway, I didn't particularly think that it was terrible for the women, just that beauty and money correlates in a twisted way. I mean, eventually if only the rich people or the people who saved up enough money gets to be pretty, then we would have to stop believing what we see altogether wont we?

Beauty in society is important. Yes, but I was trying to point out that the acquisition of beauty, in this case anyways, is wrong. And shows like the swan not only points out that beauty leads to happiness, but you can buy beauty (and happiness) because you are ugly. And I doubt this show is encouraging for women, simply because it is so superficial.
