perhaps, but that is no reason to dismiss all of musical criticism including pitchfork's end of year list

but like oh my god, they didn't list any bands i know and they were all like "pink floyd sucks" and i've never really heard pink floyd but my dad talks about how good they were and my dad's never wrong so like pitchfork has to be wrong so they're list sucks

whoa annux, those are some ridiculously badass 3-d numbers they've got there

interpol - too high, this grew on me but it has some awful songs
iron and wine - great album, horribly sequenced (FAST slow FAST slow FAST slow... dude, sequence your album)
!!! - liked it the first time i heard but, but it's unbearably monotonous, isn't it?
destroyer - can't fucking stand this. someone explain the appeal of this to me
ff - should have been higher, i know i'm the only hip kid who still admits to liking them but it's a flawless record
ghostface - THIS ALBUM SUCKS. seriously, this is another one that baffles me- half. the songs. are. so. fucking. weak. it's not even. funny. i mean, i understand that people like "Run" a lot, but that's no excuse for the other songs
        blonde redhead - meh?
bark psychosis - this is a sweet album, though some of the songs are sort of leaden
tv on the radio - NO- it seemed like everyone understood just how much of a disappointment this was when it was released, but now they're backtracking and hailing it as something that it most definitely wasn't. who knew the shortlist prize had such indie clout?
        kanyay - no thanks
air - no, "surfing on a rocket" is about gay sex
        madvillain - unbelievably awesome
        junior boys - same
dead texan - fantastic album, i'm glad it placed so high here
fiery furnaces - this is pretty good, i guess. i don't like their male singer when he mumbles, at all, which is an entire song, and the album's too long. but the good songs are very good
brian wilson - yeah, whatever. his voice sucks
joanna newsom - used to hate this, now i like it fine
        sonic youth - nope
mclusky - ...what? half of this album was unlistenable
        banhart - he's ok
animal collective - hamstringed by "visiting friends," which belongs on a different album, but otherwise just dandy
        a.f. - yeah
newman - way too high, has several songs that are just plain bad
        wilco - good album
xiu xiu - brilliant, it's not my #1 but i can easily see it being it

annux, what makes you say this is a better list? they share 24 albums, don't they? edit: my bad, i guess they share 19. but do you really like blonde redhead or something?

Slipknot is full of shitty people. You can argue either way about their music (crank that bullshit to 11 for all I care--you'll find my Slipknot CDs under a pile of monkey turds, burning) but the people in it still suck fucking hardcore.

for a moment of seriousness, my favorite album was franz ferdinand. FF has a thorough, consistent album. I grade albums on if I can listen to - and stand - the entire album without skipping forwards.

I also enjoyed the first half of the killers album (i'm a sucker for that glam-indie shit), and Morrissey. I enjoyed the arcade fire alot as well, and air.

But to be honest, I haven't caught up with alot of those albums. I'll check out xiu xiu, everyone's buzzing about them.

The other day my friend commented that my joy division album "sounded like interpol" so I'm unofficially hating interpol right now

added to the queue list, i'll probably torrent the album unless those tracks are good, in which case i pay homage by buying it

i wouldnt suggest buying the whole album, too much of it is really weird. but clowne towne is a really good song and I love the valley (oh) is one of my favorite songs ever

i would definitely suggest buying the whole album, there are at least 4 show-stopping songs (crank heart, valley OH, brian the vampire, clowne towne), another four that are great, and only two that are really "weird" (i still like them)

is my third favourite album from last year

I seriously dig "Ceremony", probably more than the new order version. "Clowne Towne" is great as well, but Ceremony wins, the vocals are really good, and the fastpaced prominent drum beat's pretty awesome
